Patient
I was referred to Dr.Yhip on August 1,2024 and was in to see him Friday Aug.2 because of classic heart attack symptoms I had been having since that previous Wednesday, excruciating pain in jaw and chest. His nurse did the routine ekg and that was it. He set me up for 3 different appointments for a stress test, echo, and calcium score. By Saturday night at the Winstar hotel casino I was in full blown cardiac arrest. By Monday the 5th I was having 2 stents placed. 3 nights in a hospital. Get back to Amarillo and had a follow up with Dr.Yhip on the 19th. Out of work this entire time with 7 medications. My 400pm Monday appointment turned into 515. Again the usual ekg done by a nurse. When I see him I complain of not being able to breathe. It must be the brilinta because of the climate here. Says he will try plavix which after 3 days isn't ready and would not give me a lung function test. And because I was at a casino that explains a lot he says because of the smoke. Refused to acknowledge that I told him about symptoms I was having since Wednesday. Hmm pretty sure that's why I was there to see him to begin with. Then wouldn't take my short term disability paperwork and sign it nor would he put me off any longer than the 3 weeks I had. He said I think you are fine to go back to work now. Disregarded how I told him I felt and said Ruby, I'm guessing his nurse will fill out my paperwork. So being it's now 530pm Monday I would have to come back Tuesday to get it. I did and still not signed because he was gone all day. So now to Wednesday I go and the date to return to work is Monday the 19th which is the same day he saw me. I get off work at 430 so that is simple math that that time isn't possible. He refused to change my return date to Thursday the 22nd because he said that's not when he saw me. So after throwing a fit along with stress and tears that Monday because of his poor treatment he finally changed the date. No paperwork signed and completed correctly by Dr. Yhip means no pay for me means more stress. Along with being told by him I'm fine and go back to work after 3 weeks. Even though I'm allowed 6 weeks short term if he would have allowed it. Scary to go back early when you still are not good and have a Dr who doesn't care and looks at you as an insurance claim. Yes after this experience I would not recommend this Dr over my dead body. He never mentioned anything to me about having a stent card. Friends did and still no card. And not would he care if something happened because I went back to work too soon. Beware of this guy. Don't consider him and even employees that were very nice at the Amarillo Heart Institute said they heard that about him. I am looking for a new Dr. and one that actually cares about his patients. Worst Dr. experience of my life.
