Patient
I've waited almost 2 years to write this review. I would never go to any doctor in this practice. Today is my father's birthday. He would have been 92. Up until his death he was a remarkably healthy 90 year old. He traveled domestically and abroad and played golf regularly. My father saw Dr. Shepple once. An anesthesiologist had detected APHIB and recommended we see a cardiologist. His primary care Dr. put him on APHIB meds. Dr. Shepple disagreed, took him off his medicine but did put him on a heart monitor for 30 days. We were told he would be monitored 24/7 and we would receive a call if they saw anything alarming. About a week and a half in with the monitor, my father's monitor fell off and broke and it was a few days before he received a new one. My mother received no call during these few days. After receiving the new piece that broke they reattached it. No inquiries from anyone why there was a gap in his monitoring. The monitoring company is Cardionet LLC. Run if you are a patient at any practice that uses them. The week before my father died, his health was declining. Again, no call from the practice about concerns or what they were seeing through the "monitoring". About 3 weeks into the monitoring my mother called Dr. Shepple's nurse on Tuesday with some questions and concerns and never got a return call. On Friday we contracted with a home health company to come help us get him stronger and she had some concerns so we called the nurse line again. Again, never got a return call. My dad had a heart attack the next day and passed away. Five hours later the monitoring company called. Five hours after he passed away. I called Jason, the University Cardiology office manager, a week after my father's passing. He was apologetic and said he really was stunned at the things I was telling him. When he asked me what they could do I asked him to let us know what the monitoring revealed and call my mother to apologize for their lack of responsiveness and poor care. He agreed but never called. I called him back a month later and he never returned my call. My guess is he called their lawyers and was advised not to return my call or admit any responsibility. My advice...go to Tennova and see Malcom Foster. But DO NOT see Dr. Shepple or anyone in this practice. From the doctor to the nurses to the office manger to the monitoring services they are a very negligent practice. People don't come to them for a common cold, their issues are serious and life threatening.
