Patient
I recently visited the Tristar Hendersonville ER and was impressed by the prompt care from the ER staff and nurses. They acted quickly, communicated well and made a stressful situation more manageable. My surgeon, Dr. James McDowell, was incredible. Excellent bedside manner - he took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure, answer questions, and help me feel completely at ease. I couldn't have asked for better surgical care. However, the nursing experience on the post-operative floor was extremely disappointing. I encountered ongoing challenges getting even simple necessities, such as water refills and the compression device connected after surgery. I was also never given any of my twice daily medications during my stay but was told multiple times not to take the same thing I brought from home. I typically saw the nurses when shift changed or when I used the call button, and even then they often did not return with what was requested. I regularly had to make multiple requests for the same basic needs, only to receive them hours later - if at all. It was noticeable that nurses were frequently gathered in groups of 2-3 walking up and down the hall socializing rather than checking on patients. Overall, the ER and surgical care were exceptional, but the inpatient nursing care fell far below expectations.
