Dr. Matthew J. Abbate, MD

Dr. Abbate is so kind, professional and thorough. He's been my PCP for almost eight years and will patiently go "above and beyond" to help you.

My elderly mother is a patient of Dr. Abate. Just over a year ago she had an accident. At that time, I called over to his office requesting a list of her medications be faxed to the hospital prior to taking her to the emergency room. The hospital never received a fax, which resulted in her being given the wrong medication to treat her pain, which resulted in her having a serious cognitive episode leading to her hospitalization for over a week. This was a very traumatic time for our family only made worse by the failure of this office to be thorough. Today I attempted to contact this office due to my mother's escalating belligerent outburst for what I suspect is dementia related. The call was hard to make to begin with as it is an upsetting and uncertain time. The person I spoke with on the phone was rude & insensitive. After being chastised twice for her lack of understanding at the nature of my call I ended up hanging up, remarking that I would seek help for these concerns elsewhere. This is unacceptable treatment from Dr. Abate's extended staff and reflects negatively as to the duty of care Dr. Abate's office has as a whole to a patient under his care. I highly suggest Dr. Abate discus with his staff the importance of handling, with patience and understanding, the overall care his patients receive at any level, most especially during a difficult time.

Dr. Abbate has been my PCP for twenty years and I have always received excellent care with compassion. Dr. Abbate listens to his patients and encourages questions. Grateful to have!
