Patient
Well I'm going to start off by saying that this 1 star review is specifically for the actual provider, Dr Austin. Everyone else in the office was super nice especially the nurses. Anyway, I'm not one to leave any reviews but I felt I needed to because my experience was unacceptable. I understand that I'm young and it looked weird that I had so many ER visits this year but that's no excuse to just completely dismiss me. As soon as Dr Austin came into the room, I felt rushed. He was trying to get out of there as soon as possible. He asked me about my symptoms then asked if I had ever worn a heart monitor before. He then proceeded to discuss having me wear a monitor for a week which I was totally ok with. Then things went more downhill. I mentioned another symptom that I had been having and instead of trying to explain to me what the cause could be, this is what he said. "Well with someone your age that's been to the hospital as many times as you have this year, not saying you're crazy, but you would think that with all the doctors you've seen, that someone would've found something by now." When someone says, "not saying you're crazy, but...", everyone knows they are calling you crazy. He also said that I needed to stop "trying to be my own doctor" and "I need to let it go". Not once in that appointment was I even able to talk enough to even remotely sound like I was "trying to be my own doctor". So idk where he got that from and why he felt the need to say all of this to me. But I will say this, it's doctors like this where people feel the need to "try to be there own doctor" because after being gaslit and dismissed over and over again, it gets tiring. So if doctors don't care enough to actual help and just genuinely care, then we just have to advocate for ourselves because no one else will. So no I will not just let it go because if I do, then no doctor will actually listen and figure out what's going on. I'm not saying I have something majorly wrong with me, but I do know something is off because there should be no reason that my heart rate spikes to 120+ every time I stand. There were a lot of other dismissive things said to me by Dr Austin but I was in utter disbelief the entire time that I really just stopped listening because I was about to just walk out of the room. It's clear that he had his mind made up about me before he even walked into the room just because of my age. I will not be returning and have already been referred elsewhere.
