Avera Heart Hospital

I cannot say enough good things about Avera Heart Hospital! My dad was admitted for surgical repair of an Aortic Aneurysm. Surgery went great without any complications, but he coded after getting to the floor and the amazing staff were able to save my dad's life. The staff of the inpatient unit are incredible, kind, smart, and very attentive. The Guest House was clean, cheap and very convenient as we live 2 hours from the hospital. Thank you Avera, particularly Dr. Reynolds and team for taking such great care of my dad during his triple bypass/aortic valve replacement. Every single person we encountered was absolutely wonderful. We stayed at the Guest House and the housekeepers would ask how my dad was doing and were so thoughtful. The CEO of the hospital even stopped and talked to us for 15 minutes to make sure we were doing okay and our dad was as well. Every nurse was wonderful and were so on top of my dad's care. Thank you very much to everyone!

Excellent place. Treated my daughter with compassion and respect. Everyone I came into contact with was very pleasant.

Dr. V saved my life! He is very kind and you can tell he truly cares about his patients and doing all he can to make them better. All the nurses treated me very well! I felt very cared about and safe during my 2 weeks there. They were very informative to my family too and made sure I go home with no issues!

My husband had a heart attack, and during the late night shift on November 11, 2024, the receptionist in the ER lobby denied me access to see him. This lack of consideration felt unacceptable in such a critical situation. Thankfully, nothing went wrong overnight, but I can't express enough how important it was for me to be with him during that time. The receptionist's rudeness and apparent lack of compassion were deeply frustrating and left me feeling discriminated against. I believe that healthcare professionals should prioritize compassion and support for families in distress.
