Patient
I'm finally coming here to share my story from 2023. I was referred to Dr Barbara Moran-Faile due to tachycardic symptoms. I relayed my diagnosis of hEDS to her, and she made me prove my hypermobility- this is due to my PCP at the time refusing to add it to my chart because she didn't know anything about it. Dr Moran-Faile then proceeded to put a holter monitor on me which involved sandpapering my skin and wiping it down with alcohol. I told the nurse I didn't want to and it would hurt me as with hEDS, I am very sensitive to adhesive and sandpapering my skin would cause more damage than it would to people with normal skin. The nurse even hesitated and left the room to confirm that she really wanted this on me, which she did. Bless the nurse for stopping midway through and attaching it anyways because I was already in tears telling her I just wanted to go home. Oh, and I immediately had to call the company who monitored the holter monitor and they apologized profusely, saying I should have never had it put on and recommending I remove it immediately. My skin was blistering around and under it, and I was left with a large scar for a year. I canceled my follow-up appointment with her and switched to a doctor in the same practice who has been nothing short of amazing. I don't know why she put me through this, but I'd recommend stay far away.
