John Marcus Wharton, M.D. is professor of medicine with tenure at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Wharton received his M.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed an internship and residency at the University of California at San Francisco. He then completed his cardiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, and subsequently served as assistant professor of medicine, director of clinical cardiac electrophysiology, and associate professor of medicine with tenure there. Beside being friendly & interested, I immediately detected a sense of humor. It never hurts to laugh even after having your aortic valve replaced. Arrogant, condescending, dismissive, and rude. Those are the words I would use to describe Dr Wharton today. I don't know if he was perhaps having a bad day, but he came into the room with an attitude, a bad attitude, and that bad attitude carried throughout much of the visit. As an allied health professional of almost 20 years myself, I was truly appalled. Yes, your credentials are impressive and that is important, but they are worthless if you do not respect your patients and their family members. We were truly disappointed and this experience will certainly make it hard for us to trust this man with our 94 yo mother's care going forward
