Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I grew up in a time when careers were limited to law, medicine or engineering. Medicine allowed me to work in a compassionate, human setting. Over the years, I developed an interest in cardiology and never saw myself as anything but a cardiologist. I was fascinated by the workings of the heart, its profound effects on people's lives and how to help people take care of themselves. My job and my patients provide me with constant motivation to do more. I like nothing better than hearing my patients say that they feel better and are back to the business of living life. What I want my patients to know about me: I always put myself in your and your family's shoes.

He is exceptional and a kind human being. While in the hospital, I asked for the nurse to send him a message on his operating day, that I wanted him to come see me. They did, but told me he would not come up to my room, that he has associates to do that and he was a very busy man. Two of the nurses stated he would not come to my room. Much to their surprise, he did come see me. He relived my tension and just made me feel better. He would do anything for his patients. Mary Meals
