Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center

As I type this, my hubby is sleeping comfortably after 6 hour triple bypass surgery. I am in their hospitality house crying and with so much gratitude for the amazing surgeon and his amazing team. Everyone that we have crossed paths with the last couple of days at Samaritan are caring, knowledgeable and so kind. I cannot thank you all enough!!

My 4yr old son had multiple episodes of hypoxia today, low pulse, low O2, pale skin and blue lips. We waited almost 4hrs and never received care. The waiting room was a disaster, people waiting longer than us, falling onto the floor with no regard from staff. Both restrooms were inhabitable and absolutely disgusting. One of them had feces smeared all over the toilet seat and the other was covered in vomit. Do better Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

A hospital is a large and complex organization with many people and challenging and varied tasks. To evaluate the whole thing may reach beyond the difficult to the futile. I have myself had both good and bad experiences here, but on the whole I give it a five star rating. Not in a metric of what a hospital could theoretically, possibly, be, but against the metric of what other hospitals, particularly in this region of western Oregon and the north Northwestern United States, actually are. The staff is skilled, they care, the facility is clean, I am sitting here in the healing garden and that's what this photo is. I give this hospital a five star rating because they are trying to do their very best, you can feel it when you work with them. And I do it because they are the best that is available to you, for more than a decade, I have told people that If I was having an emergency, I would drive by buy some of the other nearby hospitals to come here, unless the emergency was of such a nature that I felt, I was going to bleed to death before I could make it. Expect if you go to the hospital to have a rough experience, it's not a hotel, expect if you go to this hospital that it will be the best experience they can deliver on.

My daughter, who was a freshman at OSU, was taken to the ER in May of 2025 after being passed out drunk on campus. She spent the night there. I arrived to be with her around 10:30 pm. I found her in the worst room in the hospital... the room was clear of everything, the one they use for patients that are at risk of harming themselves. The bed was a stretcher, not a real hospital bed. The floor was filthy ( aren't hospitals supposed to be clean?). We spent the night in that room and not once did a nurse or a doctor stop by to check on her. The next morning, I had to inquire about timeline of the social worker. The social worker finally came and was wonderful. She is the one that told me my daughter's bac was 4%. A 4% bac and no one bothered to check on her once. A suicidal patient in the most depressing, dirty, awful room you've ever seen in a hospital. The ER was intermittently busy that night but when not, the nurses and staff chatted it up loudly all night at the nurses station. What a disheartening experience.

My mom is a guest here, dementia stuff. Excellent staff, all. Very caring, clean facilities, and her team was awesome in their care of her. While visiting yesterday, we were treated to a complete double rainbow and a single. I am quite happy with this facility!
