Patient
Dr. Melton was my father's surgeon two years ago and addressed multiple vascular issues, including a 7.5 cm AAA. Less than a year later, my father's internal medicine physician contacted me urgently, expressing concern about the stability of the aneurysm repair and bypasses and asking that he be seen by Dr. Melton as soon as possible. Despite those repeated requests, the appointment never happened. My father passed away a month later from a massive hemorrhagic event related to his bypasses. This has been devastating for our family. I also sought Dr. Melton's help for my own case after internal care coordination failures led to years of delays and contributed to serious progression of my vascular conditions forcing me out of state for surgical intervention and thousands more in care costs. While the providers themselves are highly skilled, the lack of consistent follow-up and coordination has had significant consequences for both me and my father. I'm sharing this in hopes that these systemic issues are addressed and that patients who fell through these gaps receive acknowledgment and an apology. Timely follow-up and communication are essential for medically complex patients, and improving these processes could prevent future harm.
