Doctor Gerard Boyle used to be a great doctor. Not anymore. He has turned into a mean, grouchy old man with no regards for anyone but himself and his agenda. He has made a habit of bullying his patients and being beyond rude to the paitent's family. I was a paitent of his for nearly 20 years and all was great until I became an adult and got married. (Cleveland Clinic allows and even encourages pediatric patients to stay with their pediatric transplant team, even through adulthood) As I got older I began to ask questions, as everyone should. Heaven forbid you question his majesty! He became rude and uncooperative. Pushing unnecessary drugs that were causing harm to my health as well as absolutely pointless yearly biopsies on my heart for no reason other than "that's what we do here" even tho there are slews of data proving that repeat biopsies DAMAGE the heart! I'm all for biopsies if there is an actual need but being 20+ years post transplant with 0 rejection, there is no need! His carelessness and cookie-cutter approach DESTROYED my kidneys! Not to mention the fact that he refused to even acknowledge the existence of my husband and father in the room. He wouldn't even say "hello" or shake their hands. He also attempted to get me to dump my husband because him having a job was a "hazard to my health". Don't even get me started on his behavior during Rona. There were multiple times the nurses and even his nurse practicioners came in and apologized for his behavior admitting he had gone "too far". When I was a child that had no voice, he was great. But as I got older and found a voice, he became a nightmare. Beware.

My experience with Dr. Boyle is different than others posted and much more remote. He was a cardiologist at Pittsburgh Children's when we saw him. My daughter is alive because of him and the other doctors there. She failed after being taken off ECMO in the PICU and he RAN in to give her CPR while the surgeon was brought in to get her back on ECMO which was another feat. If you know Dr. Boyle you know running would not be his strong suit. I credit him and others for keeping my daughter alive and he was always very personable and caring with us and I was very sad when he left Pittsburgh as I considered him my fav doctor there. I don't know the situation at where he is now but I know him to be a very competent, caring, decent doctor and person. My daughter was 2 when she had her transplant; she is now 18 and she was so bad off at the time it was a miracle that she survived.
