I want to express major gratitude to Dr.Corriel with whom I had a visit today. His nurse Jennifer was very efficient and helpful, too. The doctor was very thorough, attentive and patient with me. And he is working NON STOP. As I was waiting in the cubicle for pretty long time, I could hear his welcoming voice and him talking extensively with a patient, only to welcome another one without any, even a couple of minutes break. The management should take better care of of their doctors! The office should not overbook and take better care of patients AND doctors. I am recommending this cardiologist from the bottom of my heart

My husband was diagnosed with a heart condition . This was absolutely a shock since he is fairly young. At the age of 34 we received a scare and had to call an ambulance at 3 am since my husband could not breathe. We live in Stony point , Rockland New York so the emergency room was located in West Nyack. We were referred to Dr. Jared Corriel by the emergency room doctor, who is a Cardiologist that works in 2 Medical Park Dr, West Nyack, NY. After our visit with Dr. Corriel who prescribed my husband 4 different types of medication.
Two days following the visit we went to our nearby Walgreens where they told us that only 1 of the 4 medications I was there to pick up with filled and the pharmacist advised we check immediately with Dr. Corriel. When I called the receptionist then looked up my husbands name and informed me there is NO INFORMATION about any medications in the system and it "seems to have deleted" my husbands information. Although this was shocking I went over every medication. She explained Dr. Corriel was out on a lunch break and she will make sure he signs for these medications to be released since his signature would be needed, and she will call us back.We never received a call back and now 4 days have gone by and my husbands medication is down to 7 days worth.
When I called back and explain to a receptionist named Melissa what has happened . She asked me for the medication list again. She explained how Dr.Corriel was out for the weekend . She also explained how she will put URGENT on this file since my husband needs his heart medication and is running low.
I called yesterday which is MONDAY JULY 1, 2024 and could not get through.I found this odd.Today is now JULY 2, 2024 I decided to call early. I could not get through again. I took time out and called Walgreens just incase and they explained they still have not received anything from Dr.Corriel. We are feeling completely helpless at this point and my husband is almost done with his heart medication.. I got in contact with my husband at his workplace which I did not want to add more to his plate, to let him know he might have to call himself. Since I had no luck getting through since Monday July 1,2024. This is now 2 weeks later and several calls later nothing has changed.
My husband calls ( funny enough they picked up first ring) my husband explained how his wife has been calling for 2 weeks just to get Dr.Corriel to sign for his medication, the front desk receptionist explained she will need the MEDICATION LIST yet again. This would be the 3rd time they asked my husband and I to repeat all the medications . My husband gets bad anxiety and is now overwhelmed. With his heart condition getting worse, I have made it priority to handle this for him . My husband was told by Melissa that Dr.Corriel yet again is busy and this time at another hospital. She explained how he can try again tomorrow since Dr.Corriel is not around . I believe I was put on a BLOCK list since I have been calling for two days and could not get through . I HAVE NEVER IN ALL MY LIFE HAVE DEALT WITH A SITUATION LIKE THIS . I am from New York City and most of our doctors have been located at downtown Manhattan and Westchester. Since I moved to Rockland this experience is making me believe my husband and I due to his heart condition might have to sell our home and move closer to the city ,where doctors there will at least take care of their patients and not stress a family out the way Dr. Corriel and his office has done for 2 weeks now. I have never been put on any block list anywhere in my life and I was NEVER disrespectful and rude. I just wanted HELP and was a bit frustrated which is understandable. I don't know what is happening over at Dr.Corriel office where he shares space with two other cardiologist.. We just wanted his heart medication . We have been begging for DR.CORRIEL to sign the release for his medication and this has been a NIGHTMARE. We are looking for another cardiologist and hope nothing happens to my husband while we wait. I HOPE THIS HELPS ANYONE OUT THERE .

I don't write very many reviews, and I'm a big believer in giving lots of chances. As you will see from my review below, I give credit where it is due. I only write this because I feel the type of practice they are running is irresponsible to their patients and could be downright harmful to people who don't have advocates or for those whom can't advocate for themselves. Here goes.....
Dr. Corriel himself appears to be a competent doctor. He is a good diagnostician and helped diagnose my father in law with life saving treatment. I myself was a patient of his for baselining and regular checkups. My wife was in the practice but with a different doctor.
The reason Dr. Corriel gets one star has to do with a complete inability to follow up with pharmacies with the life saving medication he prescribes. There were multiple instances where he failed to send prescriptions to the pharmacy. This happened many times over the last year. Too many times for me to track. I won't detail every medication, but here's the process I went through to get medication refilled:
- multiple calls to the office that were sometimes directly answered, but most of the time went to a central switchboard
- most of the time I would leave a message with no calls returned.
- when calls failed I drove to the office just to have a conversation with someone who would listen.
- In defense of the office, sometimes samples would be given in lieu of the failed prescription. But that didn't fix the issue when sample meds were empty.
- I finally went to the office and met with Theresa, the office manager. Things got slightly better with direct contact with her, but medication was still lapsing.
- ...and on and on it went.
In other practices, the pharmacy is linked to the doc's office and everything is seamless. With this office, I needed to literally beg and then scream for what should be standard operating procedure.
The office told me that they have over 12,000 patients and that they are doing the best they can. I would contend they need less patients and they need to do a better job at servicing the ones they have.
We have finally gone elsewhere to another cardiologist. The lifesaving medication my father in law needs is too important to be on this merry-go-round. My wife and I will be following suit. 3 less patients brings their practice down to 11,997 patients. Maybe now they will have more time to get the basics right.
I sincerely hope they do better with other patients. Appropriate follow up is too important to get it this wrong.

Dr. Corriel is compassionate and a great Cardiologist. I have been his patient for many years. I feel the problem is with the office staff and/or communication. The nurses that work with Dr. Corriel are very nice.

Office staff and Dr. Corriel are the best.
I have had my share of rude incompetent staff.
Here, all was great. Efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Helped me with my paperwork and sent all info to my primary care Doctor.
Dr. Corriel is kind, not an alarmist and explains all procedures so a layman can understand.
I will be back for future visits. And I drive in from Brooklyn, NY !
