New York Comprehensive Medical Care

Husband went to have preoperative care and Doctor Philip completely misdiagnosed him said he was having an aneurysm in his heart and after he went to see his regular cardiologist he was told that was absolutely false. Someone really needs to double check this doctor and his credentials because him walking around giving false diagnosis to patients is never a good thing, stay far away from this office. "Comprehensive medical care?" To me the false diagnosis of aneurysm is beyond comprehensive.

I would absolutely NOT RECOMMEND New York Comprehensive Medical Care (NYMC) in Smithtown. There is nothing " comprehensive " about the care given at this office Dr Philip is very abrupt and impersonal. Staff is rude, unprofessional and stand-off ish. The staff at the front desk makes disparaging remarks about patients which is a whole new level of rudeness considering people are there for medical issues. The wait times are extremely long due to overbooking. Forms get misplaced and billing is often incorrect. The examining rooms are dirty, especially the walls which have grime on the surface. Given the fact that the staff doesn't answer the phone and takes days to return important messages, one would not expect the staff to tidy up the rooms- that would be too much work for them. The NYCMC Bohemia office is run efficiently and professionally. Dr Nayyer is at the Bohemia office and he is compassionate, highly trained doctor who treats his patients with respect and compassion. The Bohemia office is a great facility and worth the extra travel.

It has taken me quite sometime to be able to discuss what i had gone through nearly 3 years ago. In May of 2020, I was told I was in 3rd stage heart failure and my kidneys were on the edge of failing as well. If renal failure did occur, my heart would NOT have been able to handle ANY interventions. Going to the hospital at that time was nearly a death sentence. I was more or less, a Deadman walking. If it weren't for the quick actions of Dr Pilip and Dr Nayyar, I wouldn't have survived the weekend. Both Dr's instantly got me the best medications and arranged for the proper monitoring that I needed to instantly correct my proteinuria (my highly overactive kidneys) and give my heart a better chance. They called my wife and I through the weekend to ensure I was still ok and had my treatments going forward well planned out. Over the course of the next two years, they continued to be very proactive in my recovery and always made me feel like a top priority even as their practice continued to grow. It is only because my family moved that I no longer go to their offices. Speaking of their offices, it would not be fair to NOT mention their incredible staff. Their nurses and receptionists were always incredibly kind, patient and knowledgeable. Due to my condition and line of work, I needed alot of documentation and the staff was incredibly fast and thorough in providing everything I asked of them. I truly believe I owe the entire staff of NYCMC more gratitude than I could ever show them. I no doubt am alive today because of them.

Dr. Pilip and Dr. Nayyar are both phenomenal doctors. Both caring, easy to speak with. I never feel rushed when I'm there. Excellent services thus far. I've been seeing both of them for two years now depending on who's available. Also Liz, who works in the office has been extremely helpful to me in multiple occasions. I think she is great and also very nice and easy to consult with. One thing I wish the office can change is to have a fax # for pharmacies to send prescription refills to. Every time I need a prescription, I get a text from CVS stating "your doctor has not responded to approve a refill". Then what happens is I have to contact the doctors office via text or call to get the prescription refilled. Not the end of the world, but just a slight inconvenience. When I brought this up, I was told that CVS send refill requests via a fax which this office doesn't have apparently, so I'm forced to follow-up each and every time as being the middle man. But this is not a big deal in my opinion. Just would be nice if I can take myself out of that loop.

I've only been seen by Dr.Nayyar. I've also recommended him to multiple family members and friends. He takes his time to explain all my medications and answer any questions I have. Anytime I've had an emergency his office was quick to schedule me for visit. When I spent 2 weeks in the Hospital with COVID this year he kept in touch with me and the team at the hospital everyday. He genuinely cares about his patients and goes above and beyond. If you're looking for a Doctor to truly speak to and discuss your health concerns he is worth seeing. Truly a Gem here on Long Island.
