Ali Zaidi, MD

Dr. Zaidi is the most incredible doctor I've ever worked with. I've been with him for eight years have been working with ACHD doctors my entire life. I wouldn't go anywhere else. He goes above and beyond to monitor my care with my other doctors and is devoted to helping me live as normal a life as I can, encouraging me to connect with patients and find peer support. Above all, I feel safe and cared for with his team.

I'm a young adult with complex congenital heart disease. I travel 6-8 hours to see Dr. Zaidi, and I would travel even further if needed. I was referred by my local pediatric cardiologist to Dr. Zaidi for further evaluation approximately 10 months ago. At the time I was feeling very unwell and it came up that I may need surgical intervention (this would be my 4th open heart surgery). Since my first visit with Dr. Zaidi, he and the ACHD team have been such strong advocates for me. Dr. Zaidi explained in detail what was happening with my heart, and why I needed surgery. They admitted me to the hospital so I was able to be properly evaluated ahead of surgery. Dr. Zaidi's team coordinated very well with the surgical team throughout the entire process. When it came time for me to get my surgery, he and the team were there the day of and the days that followed to ensure I was getting the care I needed. My surgery was quite complex, but it went very well. I can only imagine the resources and manpower it took to make it all happen. Words cannot express how thankful I am for Dr. Zaidi, the surgical team, and everyone who cared for me. The medical staff at Mount Sinai are all such kind, caring people who act with your best interest in mind. If you are an adult with congenital heart disease in need of care (needing to get established, second opinion, or possible surgical intervention), I encourage you to start with Dr. Zaidi. You can trust his word. He will point you in the right direction, whatever that may be. Even if you have to travel or go outside the comfort of your established cardiologist, it is well worth it. This is especially the case if you are higher risk and/or have complex diagnoses (like me).
