Patient
Upon arriving for my appointment, I was charged $50 before the doctor even saw me. I do not have a copayment and my deductible for the year was already met. I should have questioned it at the time, but I did not. That said when I received the explanation of benefits from my insurance company I did Not in fact owe $50 I called the office and the first thing the girl said to me was that she didn't even know why I was charged $50. She then went on to say I could keep it as a credit for my next visit to the office or get a refund. Since I had no intention of using that office again I opted for the refund. She said they would get me out a check in the next couple of weeks and even asked me to verify my mailing address. Months went by and I never received the refund so I called them back and they proceeded to tell me that the money was refunded back to my original form of payment which was one of those disposable non-refillable credit cards more like a gift card. Not really sure how they could've sent a refund back to a card that was not reloadable, but the point is I no longer had that card. In fact I had the receptionist throw it in the garbage at the office the day I used it for payment since it was in fact, a$50 " gift card" The girl on the phone then got pretty nasty and basically told me there was nothing else she could do for me and she was not going to sit on the phone any longer with Me to discuss it. She then said it is what it is. This was the same girl that told me they were going to mail me a check when I called to resolve this initially. I would've never chosen a refund back to my original form of payment since I knew that card was in the garbage. I was pretty aggravated that day but figured I had no choice but to let it go even though it was unfair. Then this morning I received a letter in the mail. In large letters in red ink was hand written patient was refunded money to original form of payment with some office account #. Very very unprofessional. These days we have to be really careful with what we are being charged at medical offices as I have noticed they will try to get away with whatever they can. I would not have written this review if not for the absolute rude condescending and nasty way I was spoken to over the phone by their billing department. Beware of being overcharged by this office.
