I recently went to the emergency room and from there was admitted for observation. My experience at the Emergency Room was a ggod one: the staff was thorough, attentive and kind. I was admitted and placed on S2. For the two days I was there I was treated with kindness and respect from all staff from housekeeping, dietary, nurses and doctors. The staff was often overwhelmed yet remained professional and kind at all times. Of a special note I would like to commend secretary Janice who when it was brought to her attention that I had left my phone charger upon discharge called me and offered to deliver it to my home after work! She did so and I was beyond impressed and thankful!

The doctor was prompt, professional and courteous. The nurses were prompt too but very tired and were not thorough in explaining treatment and I was even told to take off my own electrodes! That was the first. Additionally, she gave me an inhaler and told me to take two puffs and took it back instead of giving it to me. What will they use an already used inhaler for? They need a vacation or extra help! Cleaning needs to be bumped up. Hospitals need to be meticulous in that department. May need a professional cleaning company to contract with.

I had no choice, but to visit this hospital as I thought, my appendix exploded, Turned out to be a decent size kidney stone however immediately walking into this hospital I knew I messed up. It feels like you were in a Third World country or some type of warehouse ready to get your organs, extracted and sold on the black market. Besides all of that for the six hours, I was there I seen my nurse two times. She kept sending her daughter in to take my vitals which I don't even think the daughter is legally allowed to do in New York State. Anyways. I would rather die than go back to this hospital I felt like I was being linked or on candid camera.

The ED room had not been cleaned before they put me in it, they just pulled off the dirt sheet & put on a new one. I felt the surgeon on call was rude. The medical unit I was on used the call light speaker (on the wall behind the bed) to announce that the pt in (room #) need a nurse, needed assistance ect, ect. Once at 11pm they called out a nurses name, at that point I had had enough & went to check it out. I was told that she (unit secretary I presume) was looking for a certain nurse. I told her that I was a nurse & in my hospital if we were looking for someone, we would get off our chair & go look for them, not let every pt on the unit know we were looking for a nurse. Then I was charged for 3 days of "oxygen therapy even though I never had oxygen on, never had a resp treatment or even had a respiratory therapist in my room. I'm still fighting them on that one. For the most part the staff was friendly, but would not go back. Unfortunately I was from out of state & didn't know anything about this hospital.

Was treated there for behavioral concerns after being snagged there by police team. That's interesting that this police officer in tarining (first letter D., don't remember the whole crew's members names) took care of all organizational requirements (insurance, and lack of it, choice of place for stay, and proper detainment techniques). I feel safe around people who know what they are doing, especially when I have no access to my personal phone, and have language barrier . After being detained in this hospital for 2 weeks ( 3 days in emergency, and a couple of days in Behavioral Unit), I think I learned how to appreciate every of moment of time as I never know when someone decides how you have to behave when you have no prestigious insurance on your file. I remember there was such a disorganization within this unit. For example: how might those who were beaten up, those who recently gave birth, had traumatic head concussion, or those who had substance use issues be in the same unit, and while some people took psychiatric drugs. Those hired employees who worked there tried with all their efforts to create warm environment by turning on music, bringing prepared meals, making sure that you sleep well and don't run in the hallway "don't go there, no you can't, ugh-ugh...you can't do this, stay here, open your mouth..." While no one knows what is better for whom, I think that it's some form of mockery when you get your treatment and don't get into nerves with anyone whom you might have seen within these walls. I am not sure if such form is approach is different for those who have private insurance, and is it helpful for those who don't have it? I will try to be more vigilant of my surroundings next time, be more cautious about my surroundings.
