Patient
I am deeply disappointed and appalled by the experience my mother and I had at Dr. J. Leonard Dire's office. My mother, who was recently hospitalized for several days due to COVID and cardiovascular issues, was extremely anxious about her follow-up appointment. Unfortunately, her nervousness was met with blatant rudeness and unprofessional behavior. When booking the appointment, the receptionist failed to ask any questions about my mother's recent health status, including whether she had COVID. When Dr. Dire entered the room--without so much as a greeting--he immediately launched into a condescending lecture about how my mother shouldn't have been at the appointment because she had COVID over a week ago. My mother was not informed of any such policy beforehand, and this oversight was entirely the fault of his office staff. His approach was not only unnecessary but completely uncalled for, leaving my already anxious mother feeling humiliated. When I tried to respectfully stand up for my mother, Dr. Dire neither acknowledged nor apologized for his unprofessional behavior. He dismissed our concerns outright, which is unacceptable from someone in a caregiving profession. Sadly, his lack of respect extended to his employees as well. After the appointment, while waiting to schedule a follow-up, I witnessed him treating his staff with blatant disrespect. A receptionist kindly handed him two notes from clients, one of which he crumpled up and tossed on her desk--despite a trash can being right next to him. Worse still, when she tried to explain the urgency of another client's call, he curtly dismissed her and refused to contact the client back, even though they had specifically requested him. This kind of behavior is not only disheartening but completely unacceptable. Patients and staff alike deserve respect, compassion, and professionalism, none of which were displayed by Dr. Dire. I will actively discourage anyone from seeking care from him. It is clear that he neither values his patients nor treats his team with the dignity they deserve. Dr. Dire should be ashamed of his behavior. I implore others to consider a different cardiologist--someone who genuinely cares about their patients and upholds the standards of proper medical care.
