Guthrie Cortland Medical Center

If you ever start feeling horrible, last place you should ever go to is the Cortland ER. Not only will you most likely die in the waiting room or your bed after waiting for 4 hours to even get seen, but their nurses are absolutely horrible. Not only do the nurses do nothing but sit around at the nurse station and cackle and gossip about all the patients so loud everyone can hear it, but they're completely uneducated. My mother went there recently with a blood pressure of 180/100!!!! And told me she was laying there feeling she was going to pass out any minute and felt her chest and head pounding, WHILE the machine attached to her was also blaring red signals. She even took a video of it, what did the nurses do? Absolutely nothing. Not even any hypertension medication. And as a nursing student myself, this alone signifies MULTIPLE Guthrie code violations including HIPPA, which should be investigated immediately and include a change of management for the ER department. Absolutely disgraceful and uneducated facilities, we will be taking our future visits to Syracuse.

I am a Stage 4 cancer patient who unfortunately has to go to this horrible place when in severe pain. They treat me horribly and speak to me as if I am uneducated. Staff is rude and they have 0% empathy and 0% compassion. They leave me in rooms for long periods of time with no call bell or any means to ask for help. I don't believe a single nurse within that facility, especially the ER, looks at a medical record but will be the first ones to think you're only there for the drugs. Sad and pathetic. Go somewhere else if you are able

This hospital goes out of it way to hire the most arrogant, incompetent doctors and medical staff. They refuse to get previous medical records, they lie, they dont run simple tests. I threw up for an entire day, couldnt keep water down and the ER didnt even give me IV Fluids after being there for FIVE AND A HALF HOURS, no one even checked on me until I tried signing out AMA. Dr. Akula in the Cardiologist department shouldnt even have a medical license, refuses to listen to his patients and talks into his phone for the entire visit. They barely have knowledge on most medical diagnosis. Literally save yourself and go through cayuga medical. This place will try to kill you with medical malpractice.

No wheelchair offered immediately upon arrival , unprofessional and confusing check in , dirty & dim overall environment , nurses adding emotional trauma by unprofessional comments to an all ready emergency situation , " this child has a deformed arm !!!" , the amount of time & follow up it took to get pain management, suggesting I send a minor alone for x rays , nurses not even aware of where basics were ( like an ice pack or pillow) multiple times, not offering assistance when my child was slipping into shock , them not immediately offering other pain management besides "F" for a MINOR , and even the referral on my discharge paperwork being impossible for myself the next morning or even later, a provider in Big Flats to even contact via phone or electronically. They made an all ready traumatic situation more traumatic!!!!!!

This place is a joke , they literally have no clue what they are doing, make fun of there patients,it's like a circus just a bunch of clowns. There's very few nurses even the day time shift team leader is a joke walking around talking about there patients giggling and laughing
