In my experience and from what I've observed, Dr. Aristotelis Vlahos does not treat others with the dignity or respect that every person deserves--whether patients or colleagues. I witnessed behavior that was not only unprofessional but reflected what I believe to be deeply discriminatory attitudes. His interactions often left others uncomfortable, and it was disheartening to see how dismissive or hostile he could be, especially toward those from different backgrounds. It's difficult to see someone in a position of authority and trust behave in such a cold and condescending way toward those around him. This is not someone I would trust with care or leadership, and I hope that others speak out if they've had similar experiences. Medical professionals should be held to the highest standards--ethically and personally--and I believe Dr. Vlahos falls far short.

Front office staff rude and disrespectful. My dentist called for information about stopping meds before a procedure and informed me voluntarily that Dr Vlahos office staff was difficult and rude to deal with. They had sent the same request prior. I called Dr. Vlahos office 6 hours later ( after the dentists initial inquiry) to ask if the info was as yet available .. and I was hung up on, switched to an extension several times where no one answered and when I finally got through to the front desk , I was yelled at that they were busy! They hung up on me when I asked if it was possible to hold. Instead of informing me that it was not a good time for them to see if the doctor updated the info they berated me. I work in an extremely busy office environment and would never think of speaking to anyone as they did to me, never! Dr. Vlahos could be the best doctor in the world but the front desk reflects quite a lot! Knowing this, I will leave the practice because if this is the way they treat people it's time to go elsewhere. I would be afraid to ever call for anything else. This occurred on Wednesday March 19 in the later afternoon..

Great interventional cardiologist. Terrible regular cardiologist. Bad bedside manner. Moved on to a new doctor not in this group.

My father was a patient of this doctor. Didn't give my father the time of day. Repeated calls for help with newly prescribed medicine and ailments went completely unanswered. Received a cardiac catheterization and the doctor didn't even make himself available afterwards to review findings with or talk to my father. Father also got pneumonia within 2 days of the procedure. Doctor has a very high opinion of himself (arrogant) and poor bedside manner which lead to poor individual patient care. If you're looking for a good doctor, even an average one, look elsewhere. You'll be better served.

Dropped into Riverview Medical Center having a massive heart attack at 46 years old. Had an Ambulance on standby to get me to Jersey Shore to crack my chest. 11th hour of my demise I hear a voice.. "I will take him up now". As he rolled me away on the gurney I questioned the nurses loudly " Is this guy any good?, not that I have a choice!" Nurse replies 'YES hes the best we have, we waited for him to do my father in laws surgery". With a smooth and pleasant demeanor we roll into the elevator and he says," do you have any family" my reply "YES and I would love to see them again if you can arrange it" Talked to me calmly the whole time. I said " doc take your time, you got this" He replies" time is not on our side buddy we have to move quickly". His calm demeanor did not offset the sense of urgency but surely helped me not be fearful in a life threatening situation. Less then an hour later as I lay flat on the table my son and daughter scurry into the operating room. Nurse turns the monitor to the them and explains my situation and says "That's what we refer to as the Widow Maker, most people don't survive this". Next morning I wake up in a room with Lenny Kravits singing, it ain't over till its over"... Doc rolls in seemingly set back from what happened in comparison to our ages. He said "you had more then 90% blockage" I asked "how where you able to get the stent in, he replies calmly "with a little help" seemingly referring to a higher power. My first few follow up visits he sat and gave me more time then any other doctor. I never felt like a number and I would be very quick to point that out. Dr Vlahos carefully addressees any depression or fear I might be struggling with after the incident which is huge with me since my mom had a nervous breakdown after heart surgery. Mental health is equally as important. With his expertise and my self awareness we eventually settled on a good balance of medications and no side effects. I'm living a happy and healthy life and I look forward to my visits and always look forward to a good joke from him. At the end of the day Dr. Vlahos is just a man. A man doing a highly skilled job and doing it to the best of his ability. As for me I see him as much more then that. My wife, children, parents, siblings, inlaws, friends and nobody more then me are very grateful for him. If you want a doctor to sugar coat your situation maybe hes not for you. Hes fairly straight forward and honest without the ego. He is also optimistic and encouraging. I would give him four stars for his jokes and six stars for saving my life.
