My first time as a patient of Dr. Hastings and I only have 'tremendous' things to say. Seriously. From the moment I entered the reception area I felt so welcomed and comfortable. Simone, Amy and Suzy are not only professional but made me feel like I had known them for years! Funny and warm ... as well as great at what they do. Dr. Hastings' assistant who took my vitals and an EKG -- I apologize, I did not get her name! - was also the same. And, last but not least, Dr. Hastings himself made me realize I was in good hands. Dr. Hastings listened to what I had to say and put very clearly in a way I could understand what my options are. A great experience! If you need a cardiologist I highly recommend Dr. Hastings and his entire staff!

Dr. Hastings is a wonderfully progressive thinker, who is, also, kind and thoughtful. He is very helpful by being clear and direct with his medical knowledge and expertise. I appreciated his suggestions on improving my quality of daily life by making simple adjustments.

My father had a "Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement" (TAVR) procedure performed by Dr. Hastings in June 2022, and suffered a major stroke which occurred during, and was caused by the procedure. While my father was 90 years old, he was in exceptional condition with only the sporadic need of a hearing aid, walking 4 miles a day and still able to drive during the daytime over 50 miles from home when needed. Although he had mentioned that on occasion he suffered from some slight shortness of breath, we repeatedly inquired about the risks of having something like this done given his advanced age. And we were again and again told that the procedure has been in use for 20 years, it's minimally invasive and that the chance of any major complications were practically risk less at only 1.5%-2.0%. If we had been informed that it was anything less than 90% we would have passed on the procedure, let his health take its natural course and whatever happened in the future so be it. And even when the recommended was made that the TAVR be performed at Englewood Hospital rather than at Hackensack Hospital because the doctor's own team was based in Englewood, we readily agreed even though it was somewhat further away since we didn't want to take any additional chances. Despite all these precautions, the stroke has left my father a shell of his former self, unable to walk, speak or feed himself, and now requiring full-time care. So in summary, I would not recommend Dr. Hastings notwithstanding the excellent interactions, service received in the 3 months preparation time beforehand, and most importantly the assurances provided. Hence, the warning.
