Patient
Beware of this place! My wife's cardiologist is located in the southwest location but since they don't do stress echo there, she chose the Summerlin location for the test. They are both under Intermoutain Health. Over the phone, she was informed it would be just like the treadmill test she did before but with the added step of ultrasound imaging. Come the day of the stress echo test, as she was mentally getting ready for the treadmill test, the ultrasound tech tells her that they will be injecting her with dobutamine instead, which is a drug used to mimic the effects of exercise in case patient is too weak to do the treadmill. This was totally unexpected as she is perfectly able to do the treadmill part. The tech also said a contrast dye will be injected to make it easier to see the images. At this point, the RN(a guy) who is supposed to administer the drug barges in without any warning, even though my wife was just about to undress. Feeling uneasy, my wife starts asking questions but was told they checked with her cardiologist and it was what he wanted. My wife was still unsure and they finally allowed her to cancel the appointment. She eventually got a response from her cardiologist who said it was totally unnecessary to be injected with drugs for the test and he wasn't sure why there was a mix-up. So someone is lying. My wife ended up doing the stress echo at the Henderson location, which did not try to inject her with any drugs or contrast. Not sure if the Summerlin location has some kind of quota to meet for pushing drugs on patients, but the whole ordeal seemed very shady. 2 stars for at least allowing her to cancel the appointment without charge.
