I had the privilege to meet Dr. Jason Williams on January 25, 2024. I was referred to him by my Cardiologist Dr. Cherie Champagne for evaluation in regards to a Congenital Bicuspid Aortic Valve and it was in a severe stenosis status and I needed to get evaluated due to the severity of my health situation. Dr. Williams explained my health situation thoroughly and we discussed the options and what he recommended for me. We came to the conclusion that a Mechanical Valve in my Aortic heart chamber would be my best option, only I would have to take blood thinners for the rest of my life. Surgery was set for February 7, 2024. My AVR was supposed to be minimally invasive and everything was going as scheduled, up until an issue came about and things turned in a different direction quickly. Dr. Williams did not expect what happened during surgery but I am sooooo grateful that he and the entire staff at Singing River in Ocean Springs, MS came through. Aside from having an Aortic Mechanical Valve placed in my heart, due to the circumstances that arose during surgery, a Pacemaker had to be placed in my Right Atrium in my heart as well. It has been a life changing event for me. I am forever grateful to Dr. Jason Williams, he is an excellent Surgeon, amazing bedside manners and a smile that makes your day!! I thank God for placing him in my life and for the knowledge he graced him with to help me and so many others that have experienced what I have. He is amazing, I am taking it one day at a time, and progressing quite well. I am officially in the Zipper Club and I must say... "Dr. Williams did an excellent job!!" my scar is beautiful, it's also a reminder that I am BLESSED to be alive!!! I am thankful to the Drs, Staff, and everyone at Singing River Ocean Springs for making my hospital stay pleasant, given the circumstances. With all my Heart...THANK YOU!! Alicia Simmons
