About Dr. William F. Campbell, M.D.

William F. Campbell, M.D., specializes in cardiology, interventional cardiology, and adult congenital heart at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) located in Jackson, MS. Dr. Campbell stayed on at UMMC after his training as he recognized the lack of access to quality cardiac care in this state. He was born in Mississippi, and the gross disparity of health care delivery, particularly in rural areas, deeply bothered him. Dr. Campbell is hopeful that his work in the catheterization lab and through the STEMI network will better deliver efficient, timely care to those patients.

The absolute best! Had a lot of issues as an otherwise healthy young woman (26-27), and Dr. Campbell helped sort them. I'd been through Baptist pulmonary and cardiology with no luck- only found out I had a significant O2 desaturation. The circulatory/heart specialist at Baptist ran tests, bubble study, and RHC and uncovered nothing. He even wrote in the report he was unsure if O2 desat. was "real." Gotta say- Yikes. I was referred out to UMMC pulmonary, where once more we found a "very real" O2 desat. despite fine pulmonary structure/function. They referred me to Dr. Campbell, who was the hero I needed. He did not stop. He ran additional tests, and advocated w/ insurance to redo some, including RHC w/ bubble study because he knows his stuff about specificity and sensitivity on tests. Found Grade 2-3 right-to-left heart shunt. Assumed PAVMs! While my journey isn't over, I am EXTREMELY GRATEFUL to have a physician who realized the extent this was affecting me and BELIEVED me when I said I was feeling "suffocated" despite intact pulmonary function. I think the world of him, as a physician and person, and couldn't recommend him more! He will LISTEN and even find what other qualified professionals miss!
