Patient
My mom came to the emergency room at St. John's Hospital with tightness in her chest to find out that she needed a triple bypass surgery. With St. John's being a smaller hospital, we did not feel comfortable with her having a major surgery there, and wanted to get a second opinion elsewhere (every patient's right). Upon informing the medical team of our decision, Dr. Charles Cliffe's disposition toward us immediately changed. He was strongly advising against transferring but ultimately, we still made the decision to discharge my mom. In the final conversation before leaving, the nurse said if we go out the door, and there is an issue, we can always turn around and come right back for care. The "doctor" followed that up with a snarky comment saying, "Or you could go somewhere else." Completely unprofessional and cruel. You will not be cared for with kindness or respect under this doctor. So glad we listened to our gut and went elsewhere for treatment.
