Patient
Originally the hospital made the consultation appointment with Dr. Kaakeh. At the appointment Dr. Kaakeh basically told me to go get tested for COPD. Disregarding my echocardiogram and heart cath. Once home I called my primary doctor who told me I would have to either get a referral for a second opinion from Dr. Kaakehs office or ask him to review my echocardiogram and heart cath reports. I sent a message through MyChart for exactly that. The following week they had the multiple disciplinary meeting with Dr. Kaakeh. After the meeting I was informed that indeed I needed mitral valve replacement and chose a mechanical valve. Once in surgery with Dr. Kaakeh he found the needed to replace my aortic valve as well. Three months later I was readmitted due to still having mitral valve stenosis. There were holes around my mitral valve and Dr. Kaakeh refused to see me and sent me to Henry Ford in Detroit where I had to have three more open heart surgeries, suffering a stroke during the fourth. My whole life has been a challenge every since. Dialysis, was on a ventilator, a trac, needed to get an iliostomy, had to learn to talk, walk, use my hand, drive, and learn an ostomy. Do better Dr. Kaakeh.
