Patient
I had a very disappointing experience with Dr.Faris.. I came to him with concerns about my health, particularly due to a strong family history of chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and kidney disease spanning three generations. Despite this, he outright dismissed the genetic component of these conditions, claiming they are entirely lifestyle-related. This not only contradicts well-established medical research but also invalidated my concerns as a patient seeking preventive care. What frustrated me most was his insistence on a one-size-fits-all recommendation of the Mediterranean diet, without considering that my body might respond better to a culturally appropriate South Asian diet. His assumption that my family's health issues were solely due to "poor lifestyle" because of where I come from was unscientific, biased, and dismissive of the fact that many South Asians, like my father, have healthy lifestyles yet face genetic risks for these conditions. Additionally, he went out of his way to avoid ordering any additional tests I requested, despite my documented family history. Instead, he concluded that I am "not predisposed" to these conditions without proper testing or evaluation, which feels negligent and dismissive of the importance of early detection and personalized care. His approach gave me no confidence that he was interested in tailoring care to my individual needs or history. It's genetic factors + lifestyle which this Dr refused to address . I need a Dr that will closely look into family history for dismiss it blame it on lifestyle . As a patient, I expect my doctor to listen, consider my concerns, and treat me as an individual. I left feeling unheard and invalidated, and I cannot recommend him to anyone looking for personalized or culturally sensitive care. Patients deserve better from healthcare providers.
