Patient
I'm beyond frustrated with the experience I just had. After my annual wellness visit in March, my doctor's office called me (I did not schedule this myself) to follow up and discuss lab results. I assumed this would be part of my routine care, especially since the appointment was initiated by them--not me. Now I've been hit with a $600 bill, of which insurance only covered $212, leaving me with a shocking out-of-pocket cost of $378 just for a brief conversation about lab results. This is NOT how preventative care should work. I've never in my life had to pay this much for a basic primary care follow-up. There was no procedure, no treatment, no new issues discussed--just lab results from the same wellness visit that was fully covered. This feels like a predatory billing practice. It discourages people from following up on their own health. I feel cheated and misled. The lack of transparency in what counts as "covered" care is unacceptable, and the financial burden this creates is outrageous. I will be looking for a new primary care provider and strongly advise others to verify every detail before stepping into this office. A $400 bill for a five-minute follow-up is not healthcare--it's robbery. This is not healthcare, it's a billing trap. Absolutely do not recommend.
