Patient
Beware if you have a loved one who has dementia, there is no compassion or consideration for what the caregiver has to go through to get the patient to their appointment. After having to reschedule my mother's appointment at least 3 times because of the unpredictable moods she experiences because of her dementia, we finally get my 85 year old mother in for her appointment, we were 2 minutes pass the grace period and were told after 20 minutes that we can't be seen because the doctor was backed up and if they took her it would cause the staff to have to stay overtime. We were 2 minutes pass grace period and they were already behind schedule when we got there, so us being late only meant less time my mother would had to have been agitated waiting to be seen, something else we have to deal with because of her dementia. I asked the nurse who made the decision to have us reschedule, if we had made it 2 minutes earlier would we not have had to wait pass 15 minutes to see the doctor, she said she couldn't guarantee that, which we would've had to do because they were already two patients behind when we got there. I say there was no consideration or compassion for what we had to go through to get her there because us being late would not have been the reason they would have had to stay late, it was because of the two patients they were already behind with when we got there. I just thought there should have been more understanding and compassion coming from a medical service provider, for 2 minutes.
