I've been seeing DR Aiello for about 3 years. I have nothing but great things to say about DR Aiello. .. he's kind, listens to my concerns, explains everything in great detail so its easy to understand and patiently answers any followup questions. He's a great choice if you unfortunately need to be treated by a cardiologist.
Doesn't remember talking to me about my Mothers pre surgery coordination. 2xs we spoke. I'm not crazy and do remember talking with him. Not good man.
On Dec 8, 2020 Dr Aiello saw me for AFIB. He said I was in immediate danger of a stroke or repeat of heart attack (2011). No symptons but confirmed by EKG by PCP 12/7/20. 12/8/2020 given dozens Warfarin sample pkgs, 4 months supply, 1 wk ea. 2 tablets, 36 hrs (12/10/20) gasping for breath. Returned to Coumadin Monitor for finger stick, told problem was "anxiety"; 5th day symptons included: gasping breathing, headache, nausea, stomach cramps. End 2nd wk days side effects: intestiinal cramping, black-tarry stools with fresh blood visible. Told by Aiello and Coumadin Monitor, "not to worry, it'd stop". By 16-17 days,l Monitor "No one else complains as much as you do!" Told no appointments open but Dr Aiello came in said could lead to my death. I agreed to complete the remaining week. Brought unopened samples but they wouldn't take them. Monitor said "must have COVID-19 bc I had too many symptoms for Warfarin". I stopped Warfarin at 23 days! Informed: NOT allowed back in office til, ",(You) get tested with negative COVID results!" It took over 3 weeks to find, get open date, plus another 10 days to get Negative report. Saw Aiello gave me Xerelto. Said would not cause Warfarin symptoms. 4th day (1/2021) bleeding with tarry stools returned, so did cramps and neasea. I refused Xerelto immediately. Monitor wouldn't accept so 8-9 bottles turned in to Dr Eversley (PCP) early February, 2021. Dr Aiello ssw me 2 more times but did nothing. N ideas for other treatments. My research found implant device but Dr Aiello knew nada, didn't want brochure either. On March 12 (2021) PCP appointment. She saw me, ordered an immediate Ambulance with EMTs on board. 20mins later at BWMC ER still monitored by EMTs. Admitted (3/12-16/21) Result: ordered 2-Liter oxygen 24/7, blood tests showed iron level reduced to 6.9 (normal 12.4), 2-4 transfusions and infusions in first 36 hours, tests revealed heart pumping at only 40% or less. Gastroentrologist ordered upper/lower GI but source of bleeding wasn't revealed; Further: internal camera device available late June; Surgery ordered immediately July 2021. Found: 5 tares, wall of small intestine, bleeding into colon. August 2021, Dr Aiello appmt; My daughter discussed result. Called new Cardiologist, Dr Muthu took new tests, said I needed a heart surgeon. We discussed results, called Union Memorial. Extensive tests mid-January to early-April, 2022: Last probes May, June Stint implanted, final surgery: July 2, 2022, repaired torn flap of valve and reattached. So far it's working fine. Unfortunately the side effects of Warfarin has created a major case of emphasema and exaggerated COPD, breathing continues to be a problem even at rest. Walking is getting more difficult. Since August, 2022, my teeth are disentigrating from within; 2 sheered off at gumline. All viable teeth have absesses but repairs not done yet. WARNING: Anyone taking Warfarin, who had tarry, black stools or fresh blood may mean still havr internal bleeding. Finally, Warfarin is known for upward of 8% users to have a reduced life span of 20 years*. If you took it get checked out! Note: *World Health Orgination (WHO) reports, 2002 .
I've been going here for over 20 years. Dr Aiello is the best.
