Dr. David Jackson, M.D., FACC

Dr. Jackson became my cardiologist following my January 2024 heart attack. He was such a reassuring person literally "at my bedside" at John Hopkins Howard Hospital the day after the heart attack. His sincere response to questions and concerns come in a timely manner. He also started the cardiac rehab gym in the hospital and referred me to enter a several week program. Regaining confidence to move forward after a heart attack is made significantly easier with his collaborative care.

I just got off the phone with the receptionist, I called because I have been feeling some discomfort in my left pectoral area, it has not affected me in a manner that I feel as I needed immediate attention. During my call with the receptionist, I explained to her my concerns and how I wanted to get my heart checked for the possibility of myocarditis, she proceeded to ask if I knew what test would show that. How am I supposed to know that?!? All I wanted was to set up an appointment so I can get some time of check up to see if there was any additional testing that needed to be done. I feel as the receptionist was a bit combative and made me feel as if i was making an unreasonable request.

Dr. Jackson is a great physician; personal, works long hard hours, and is a competent physician. Recently, Dr. Jackson informed me by phone that he would no longer provide care for me. He recommended that I find a new cardiologist. This was followed up by a formal letter from him ( cc'd to his chief operating officer), saying that his practice would not provide care for me and informed me of where to look for a new cardiologist .I had to scramble around to find a new cardiologist. Essentially, Dr Jackson wanted me off a particular medication. FIVE other of my doctors felt that I should remain on the medication in view of my medical history. I was stuck in the middle. I must say, it is admirable that Dr. Jackson sticks to his guns, in spite of other doctors recommendations. Needless to say, the experience was hurtful and disappointing to me, especially the way it was done. I have been a nurse for 46 years and 11 of those years I worked in the hospital that Dr. Jackson is affiliated with. I would have preferred a face to face conversation with him. His formal like actions made me feel unimportant and could have been handled in a more respectful fashion.

Total 180 from the first cardiologist I saw at another practice. Dr. Jackson took my rare blood disease seriously and read my extensive history before our first appointment. His bedside manner was fantastic and he was very knowledgeable. I have no doubt he will work well with my team of specialists- what a relief after the first guy I went to!!
