Patient
We were 13 minutes late to our appointment. I made our apologies, as we had 2 toddlers and a newborn to get out of the house. Because we were late, our appointment had to be rescheduled. I was surprised because at all of my other doctors, the rule is 15 minutes grace. I inquired about the grace period for this office to find out if there was one and got no clear answer. No one was in the waiting room. This would be mostly fine - it was my fault for being late. It's happened to me before as a mom of 3, so I can bite that bullet. However, the energy was way off. The receptionist was polite but somewhat cold. It felt like she could not care less about us. She made a couple of comments that felt odd and talked about my children to me while barely looking at them. This is a pediatric office, but kids did not seem to be a focus. The waiting room was quite sterile, definitely designed for adults and not children. The doctor walked by and did not glance at us or even glance at his receptionist as he muttered something to her in passing. No smiles, nothing that would suggest that this was a place for PEDIATRIC cardiology. I'm sure he was busy, but I have never seen another pediatric office of any sort set up this way or staffed by people with this sort of vibe. I left, having rescheduled but feeling that I did not want my children to be seen at this office at all. I will find a different cardiologist to see my children. 3 stars because the receptionist was at least polite, despite the overall feel.
