Dr Munir and staff are wonderful. However, the wait time is rather lengthy - I read two chapters of book while waiting.
About Dr. Abdullah Munir, MD- Cardiovascular Institute of the South
Dr. Munir is an interventional cardiologist at CIS in Zachary. He attended medical school in Pakistan. He completed his internal medicine residency at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, New York, where he was named chief resident. He completed a fellowship in general cardiology at the same location, where he was named chief fellow. He is currently completing a fellowship in interventional cardiology there as well. Dr. Munir is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, and echocardiography. He is also a registered physician in vascular interpretation. He also has level II training in cardiac computed tomography.

Dr Munir was excellent. He spoke directly to my 91 yr old grandmother and considered her lifestyle and medications. He considered her overall wellness and comfort when recommending a treatment plan. He was knowledgeable and kind. The experience we had in the waiting area was less than desirable. It was confusing at the virtual check in and there was no one to help us. The only woman at the check out desk became hostile with a nurse who was waiting with a patient from a nursing home. We waited nearly an hour with no information. The staff was polite but did not call in the Rx they said they would.

Dr. Deepok retired & instead of him having me search for another Cardiologist, he told me he wanted me to see his replacement which turned out to be Dr. Munir. When he arrived & was ready for patients I didn't have to call for an appointment, CIS contacted me to say he was there & they needed to schedule my appointment. As usual Dr. Deepok knew what was best for me because Dr. Munir is fantastic! He is extremely thorough & he'll explain everything to you until you understand. He doesn't mind if you have questions & he'll sit there & answer all of them. He always calls your new scripts in every visit so you never have to ask or call back to get refills. So, if you're looking for a Cardiologist you really need to go see Dr. Munir at CIS in Zachary, LA!
