She completed her internship and residency at Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She is board certified in internal medicine and has been on staff at Ochsner since the Summer of 2001.

Dr. Sara Fernandez is very thorough and helpful with her evaluation and treatment. She listens to description of symptoms and offers plans for treatment and also offers referrals to other specialists when needed. She builds confidence and hope for a positive outcome. She also accepts my concerns for side effects of some medications. I am very confident under her care!
Time to find a new GP. Not the best at addressing my concerns in the past anyway. Showed up at 11:45 for my 12 o clock appointment. Put in a room around noon by a staff member (no vitals or anything). 12:30 still waiting. Nobody outside room....they all went to lunch! Left (not that anybody noticed). Saw a note in my chart at 1:10 that I left. Ochsner is getting so big, negatively affecting patient care.
Extremely professional and thorough, Dr. Fernandez is a top notch provider with compassion for her patients. She takes all the time necessary to answer questions and develop treatment plans and /or suggest referrals to specialists when needed.
Dr. Fernandez is, hands-down, the best health care provider I have ever encountered. She's incredibly thorough and looks at every issue from all angles. I never feel rushed- always feel listened-to. She's just fantastic!
