I took my mother to the doctor and the receptionist was very rude, she even made a comment of that we barely made it before they canceled her appointment even though we had been standing in line waiting to get checked in for a while. There were others there that could have checked us in but they were busy talking and doing other things.
The technician that waited on her was not rude but she was not overly friendly either. She came in and got to work but hardly spoke to us.
The physician's assistant was very nice and friendly she took time to explain things to my mother and even made notes for her to take home.

Dr Mathews is one of the best cardiac doctors in the area. BUT...Reason I left him is because of the company he keeps. His nurse practitioner Payne is a bold faced liar and I don't like to be lied too. He told me that Dr Mathews had said I wasn't able to get something I needed when in fact the Dr said I WAS able to get it just so he wouldn't have to deal with it. I guess when the cats away the little mice lie, cheat, and steal just to make themselves look good. And in this case I think it just might have worked out that way.
I wish Dr Mathews all the best and if you ever decide to keep different company I'll be happy to come back. But I can't trust your NP Payne so I solved the problem an left your practice. There are other cardiac doctors out there that don't keep bad company that close. Best Wishes!

Dr Matthew's is great but his staff is garbage. They are rude and act like it's not even in the realm of possibility that they can make a mistake. I had a heart catheter scheduled which was canceled by them because Matthew's had an emergency. They wanted me to come in just to reschedule it. I told them I wasn't coming in for an office visit , and paying another bill, for something that could be done over the phone. They eventually scheduled it after arguing with me for 30 minutes but never scheduled a follow up. Then proceeded to charge me $25 for an office visit no show for a follow up I was never told about. I vividly remember them not telling me about it because I thought well maybe they would schedule it afterwards which didn't happen either. When I called to ask why a no show was on my bill, I was told it's not their fault because I should've called to see if I had a follow up and it isn't possible they made a mistake.

I will never go to this office again. I drove hours to see Dr. Matthews and this old lady named Mellisa straight up lied saying she called and left a message for me on Friday saying they had to change my apt from 8:45 to 3:30 pm, which never happened. I never received a call or she never left a voicemail. She was very inconsiderate and even had the nerve to say well you should have seen a cardiologist in South Carolina then. She's the same lady who acted like Matthews didn't have an available apt until end of July but I spoke with someone else who said he had availability in June. She needs to be considerate of others' time and take accountability of the mistake she made because she never called me nor left any voicemail of the changes. I would have changed my apt to another date or planned accordingly if I was informed of those changes. Dr. Matthews is great but his staff needs better training. I will gladly find another cardiologist with more compassionate staff

I have been a patient of Dr. Mathew's for 18 years. He is a skilled physician, who is caring and compassionate. I moved away from the area and now drive two hours, one way, to see him because I trust him to take care of me. At my most recent visit, Brandy, put on my heart monitor and showed me how to use it. She, too, was caring, compassionate and patient. This is a great cardiologist office.
