I underwent open heart surgery at OP Regional for a mitral valve repair on 6/23 and was discharged on 6/28. This was obviously major surgery and a hard decision to make at close to 80 years.Also not easy to decide on the location and surgeon to perform the operation.At this point I could not have made a better set of decisions. Dr. Ahmed Romeya and his team performed the open heart procedure. I found him to be both professional and warm. He answered every question directly and clearly. Postop he met with me every day. I could not have made a better choice!. I was in cardiac ICU for three days and cardiac care for three more. I will not try to name individually every person who cared for me or interacted with me. I remember most of the names and all of the faces but would inevitably overlook someone. But I must emphasize that in my opinion I received world class care. I experienced nothing but professional competency, high intelligence along with multiple expressions of warmth and compassion. All patients will have their own experiences. In my case, I feel more than fortunate that I put my life in the hands of such people.
