Always take amazing care of their patients/patients families. I had 2 babies here & was treated like royalty. My family could probably own a wing with how much we have been here through the years. Highly recommend them.

The ER here is always short staffed maybe two doctors who see all patients but usually just one. They are incredibly, and I mean incredibly tight when it comes to anxiety medicine or pain medication. I understand it's because of the whole narcotic epidemic, over-prescribing by doctors and/or pill mills. But understand this, the epidemic was caused by the doctors pushing them onto patients. Not the other way around. So when someone comes in with extreme anxiety, or is in medium to significant pain... I don't get the hesitation to prescribe them the right thing to solve the issue. They resort to lesser drugs that make no difference in outcome. Now, their ER surgery is on another level. Extremely good. I got my leg almost chopped off by an axe, and they basically saved my life. And the aftercare by their specialist was superior. I can't remember his name, the orthopedic surgeon, it was almost ten years ago. Specialists tend to be specialists, very good at their area of expertise... Which one would hope they would be. I moved my care from UnityPoint to MercyOne for the same reasons as listed above, I have major pain and moderate anxiety since I was 16 and now am 37. Of which I tried three-four different doctors and disliked them all at UnityPoint. MercyOne has been my resting place now, for my psychiatrist and my primary care doctor. My endocrinologist is in Iowa City, and I get knee shots at Cedar Valley Specialists (Dr Eagan), who did surgery on my meniscus with great success. My nephrologist (kidney problems) are with Dr Daoud... Again a superior specialist. All of these people don't work for Allen.

My daughter was at the emergency room for pain in her legs and head they told her that she couldn't have any pain relief meds because it was on a record/report that she's just a druggie looking for a high I've always believed that Allen Hospital was a great place I even had my son there 32 years ago and never had any problems but this is RIDICULOUS to refuse to help her with pain relief ..

Went in for outpatient ankle surgery. Everything was smooth and easy. Doctors and nurses were very attentive and answered my questions. Great experience
