Patient
Apparently only means of contact. ...This past weekend my caregiver left a message on the non-urgent line. She did want me to go to the ER, but I refused. Monday morning I called around 10 AM, was told they were busy - leave a message, even though one had already been left. So I did. This is now Wednesday heading now to Thursday with no return call. No contact. No attempt to contact either number. Immediately upon the start of wearing the heart monitor device it was uncomfortable. I just thought it was part of wearing it. I didnt know that it appears this particular device has caused some allergic issues to patients & didn't even think about it being an allergic reaction. While it kept getting worse, burning, itching, & driving me nuts - again just thought it was from not normally wearing one. Tues it was put on - Friday it was unbearable, but I had told myself wait until Friday when you can charge it to let it breathe for awhile. When my caregiver saw what it had done to my skin, she wanted to take me to the ER. All 4 contact points had varying degrees of a burn. All 4 were bright red like the worst sunburns (on fair skin) that I have ever had. All 4 were raised welts on the skin. One was The others some welt dot type spots within the red burn spot. Around the area, particularly underneath where the main part of the device out to and just around the 4 monitors were red dots like a rash. It was painful. Stung like a really bad sunburn like when I had second degree burns. I went online to read about this device and found that reactions seem to be common. I followed their advice which wasn't all that descriptive, cleaned the area, new pads, & tried to wear it again in a new spot close to the old spot. Almost immediately I felt the burning itch, not bad, just enough to know my skin wasn't happy. I kept it on hoping it wouldn't get as bad & maybe I could change it daily or something. Anyway, I wore it for a few hours before it came off on its own. Monitor website advised to try creams, which we did. Anyway, once again there was already 4 red, deep red spots & slight raising of the skin where they were attached to the skin for just a short time. She called for 2 reasons, advice on their opinion for treating the skin & for assistance in the best type of cream to use so I could continue to wear this thing. I've done my best to wear it, to try to figure out a way to wear it & this office could care less! I am really upset.
