My mom broke her hip and had surgery here. Her aftercare was questionable at every turn. There was never a "go-to" person that knew about her care. The nurses, cna's and PTs were, for the most part, completely unable to care for a patient with dementia, who is also in pain! The social worker was not initially clear on when/where my mom would be discharged. Communication seemed to be lacking with the social work dept. My mom ended up being at Carle/Proctor for 12 days. Each day was a new problem and disappointment with staff. I believe staff needs to be trained on dementia care as well as improving their communication skills with family members.

I was admitted to Proctor for about 5 days. I'm going to spare all of the details, and there are a few things that weren't so great. But I would just like to say that the night charge nurse Lauren and day nurse Brittany really held me together during what was a relatively traumatic experience for me. Being in the hospital is hard for anyone and the right kind of care can make such a huge difference.
Proctor has some really magnificent staff. Julia, Marissa and Marcus were also just wonderful. (Marcus was the one CNA that was considerate enough not to throw the lights on at 4 in the morning without warning when you're dead asleep which I appreciated so much.) But I was primarily taken care of by Brittany during the day and Lauren at night and I cannot express enough how cared for I felt by them. Brittany and Lauren both are living breathing examples of compassionate care.
Just one example: The last night I spent in the hospital, I didn't know it was my last night. I was terribly homesick and crying. Lauren was not assigned to me as they had extra hands that night, but she made it a point to come check on me and talk me through the little breakdown I was having.
She and Brittany both, I feel, treated me like a loved one. I'm genuinely sad that I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to them as I was discharged when neither were on staff. I made it a point to ask two different members of staff to pass the message along if they thought about it. I hope they know what their effort meant to me. If someone from proctor sees this, please tell them Madison with the cursed big toe adores them and will never forget them.

Horrible ER experience with my daughter. She was severely dehydrated from non stop vomiting. They refused her fluids. Instead gave her multiple drugs including Ativan and volume. For vomiting and dehydration?! She was there for several hours and finally sent home still dehydrated without fluids. Also gave her a water bottle with electrolytes, of which she could not keep down. Not to mention the extremely rude staff. I have never seen a less caring annoyed nurse in my life. Nurses station sounded like a night club. Staff sitting around blaring their personal likes of music and laughing and yelling and having a great time. Cleanliness was the last issue. This place was disgusting. Do NOT take your loved one here if you want true actual care.

This hospital staff was the WORST. Bordering on INHUMANE treatment of my Aunt. I sure hope someone finds comfort for their loved ones here because we got no comfort, nocompassion, and no assistance.

Don't go here. Took an ambulance from urgent care to this ER screaming with spinal pain. They medicated me for the pain but then discharged me even when I couldn't stand or tolerate sitting up in a wheelchair. I begged to be admitted and they said no. They looked at an MRI from two years ago without obtaining new scans and did not believe how bad I felt. My husband drove me to a different ER where I was admitted for a week, as my symptoms by then had only worsened and required a catheter for several days. I'm still recovering with a walker, 8 days later.
