I am writing this review to warn others about the extremely poor quality of care my mother received at Olympia Fields Hospital. She went to the emergency room for severe sinus pressure, chills, and recent COVID-19 within the last 14 days. Instead of being properly evaluated, she was discharged with paperwork that falsely stated she came in for a "headache"--which she never reported.
The nurse assigned to her, Ashley (Latina woman), showed very concerning clinical skills. When attempting to draw blood, she repeatedly tried to insert the needle into an area with no visible vein, causing my mother unnecessary pain. My mother--who has medical experience--had to tell her where the vein actually was before Ashley was finally able to draw the blood correctly. That is alarming and unacceptable for a trained medical professional.
When my mother politely asked for warm blankets, she was ignored and never received them. On top of that, she was sent for a CT scan and waited hours for results, only to be told "nothing is wrong" and discharged with Metoclopramide, a medication used for nausea--even though she never complained of nausea at any point.
In addition, my mother clearly explained her symptoms to the ER staff: severe pain in her head, heavy mucus drainage, and a foul odor coming from her nose. These are obvious signs of a possible sinus infection or bacterial issue, yet no nasal culture or proper diagnostic testing was done, only a CT scan to "check for a slow bleed," which did nothing to address her actual symptoms. She also informed them that she is already prescribed opioids for neuropathy along with a nausea medication. Despite knowing that, they still sent her home with another nausea prescription (Metoclopramide) she didn't need, instead of treating the real problem she came in for. This shows a complete lack of attention to patient history and basic medical logic.
To make things even worse, it took over 24 hours for her prescription to even be transferred to a nearby pharmacy, leaving her in pain and untreated. The lack of urgency and compassion from this hospital is unacceptable.
I also want to mention that this is not the first time my family has suffered due to this hospital's care. My uncle passed away here after their EMS services arrived over half an hour late, claiming they "went to the wrong address." He had a heart attack, went over several minutes without oxygen, and didn't survive. That trauma still affects my family today.
After what happened to my uncle, I hoped things had improved, but clearly they have not. From just a simple flu virus, to a fatal heart attack, I do not trust this hospital with my family's safety, and I truly worry for other patients who come here expecting real medical care.
Please, do not bring your loved ones here unless it is your ONLY option. The lack of proper care, incorrect documentation, delayed treatment, and unprofessional staff can cost people their health, and even their lives.

I visited this hospital on November 13, 2025 at 9:30am because I was experiencing several serious symptoms, including chest tightness, shortness of breath, weakness, neck pain, headache, fever, and numbness in my hands and feet. Even after clearly explaining everything, I did not feel taken seriously at all.
The provider only ordered a CBC, metabolic panel, and urinalysis -- no EKG, no chest X-ray, no troponin, and no real cardiac or neurological evaluation. With the symptoms I had, these tests should have been standard. Instead, I was dismissed and rushed.
What made it worse is that the provider actually asked me how old I was, as if my age determined whether my symptoms were important. It felt unprofessional and unnecessary, and it added to the feeling that I wasn't being believed or properly cared for.
I left this hospital without answers. and without the appropriate testing my symptoms clearly required.
Please do better and have a serious conversation with the doctor who was on duty in the ER triaging patients. The level of care and attention I received was not acceptable
Hospitals are supposed to rule out emergencies and make patients feel safe. This visit did the opposite. I hope this review encourages better listening, better professionalism, and more thorough care in the future.

Not my first choice of hospitals, but I had to go. Er doc was nice. Removed the foreign object from lower stomach area with not much issue " you put it in they pull it out" is what he said.... In hindsight it's a weird thing for a Dr to say... Almost like he's done it before. Not long after my visit I was told by my family Dr that I had caught the 'betes from the hospital stay although it was an outpatient procedure. I wasnt aware that diabetes was contagious until then. Please learn from my mistake. Do not insert foreign into places where they don't belong and do not go to this establishment unless you already have the 'betes. Thank you and goodnight

I understand that hospitals can be busy, the waiting time I experienced was excessive and unreasonable. I waited approximately 7 hours before being seen, (that's only because my sister had to ask what was going on) with little to no communication or updates provided during this period. This lack of information was frustrating and caused unnecessary stress.
Additionally, I was very disappointed by the behavior of certain staff members. I found their manner to be rude and dismissive, which made an already difficult situation worse. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, empathy, and professionalism, regardless of how busy the facility may be.
I believe it is important for the hospital to address both the long waiting times and the conduct of staff, as these issues significantly affect patient experience and trust in your services. Let's not forget that I was given wrong test results from the ER DOCTOR!!
THIS HOSPITAL IS TERRIBLE!!!

I am writing this review while I am in the emergency room (10/12/25 11:37pm)All 5 stars goes to my amazing nurse Ms. Jessica. She is giving me the best care ever, didn't even think that I am a pain in a b patient for being a hard stick. She's been patient with, emphatic and makes me feel that she really does care about me. She is top of my care making sure I am comfortable. Thank you Ms.Jessica!! And also, the nurse that started my IV was awesome too. Her name is Ms. Brittney. Only nurse that got my IV on first try. She was also very patient. She listened to be and said that she listens to her patients because we know our bodies. Thank you Ms. Brittney!
