Lots of great staff. Beautiful facility... But the hospital has definitely gone downhill over the last 10/15yrs. Last time we were there my mom sat in the ER room for hours no sense of urgency even w/ ambulance. Other peoples blood was sitting on the tray 4/5 viles never picked up. Just left in the room for hours. I'm like mom is that ur blood she's like no it was here when they put me in here. ER staff n upstairs never seem to communicate no one knws info/details of ur issues/ailments. Takes forever to transfer to room. Have to retell over. My mom came to ER alone in ambulance ER nurse told her she had sugar issues/very low. She's never had sugar or diabetes issues ever in her life. Thought maybe they had confused her blood, etc since vials were just sitting around, etc. Seemed out of the norm. **Next day they gave my mom INSULIN at dinner when I questioned it they claimed her sugars were off. When I asked if they retook her blood that morning or noon they said no it was the reading from the other night basically ingored my concerns n proceeded to give her the insulin shot in her tummy. My mom did have a lot of med problems but she died the next morning. I think it was a mistake. I'm not blaming but it's sad when a hospital is known for mistakes and people say don't have ur mom go to Sherman again they are killin ppl over there.

This is a mixed review. First the positive: My husband had a total knee replacement and the care he received was great! The doctors and nurses were knowledgeable, compassionate and the care that he received was top notch! Now to the negative: A family member took him to the hospital 2 hours early. I am disabled with a severe nerve disease and I knew it was going to be a long day. My plan was to arrive before he went into surgery and valet my SUV. I also have handicapped license plates. I have a small, compact electric wheelchair with a lift in the back of my SUV. I pulled up in the circle and motioned that I would like to valet. As I opened the hatch, a young man came over to help me. Just then, a woman who said she was the manager, came running over and yelled to him to stop helping me. Then she looked in the front seat of my car and noticed that I have hand controls. She screamed that they could not valet my car because of that. I told her the foot pedals work just like any other car and she yelled at me that they couldn't valet my car! I explained that I had to get inside before my husband went into surgery and she didn't care. There were 4 handicapped spaces within the circle but they were blocked off. I asked it I could park there. She said no, that I had to go in the main parking lot. I had already gotten the wheelchair down and unhooked so I asked if I could leave it there while I went and parked. So then I had to walk, with my crutch, from the main parking lot to the entrance and I made it 5 minutes before they took him into surgery. I have used valet parking at other hospitals, events, everywhere and NEVER have had a problem. I was furious to see how they treat their handicapped, senior citizens. There are laws about this! Sherman, you need to do better!

This is a first time review of my husbands hospital emergency. Like most families we have experienced numerous hospital stays for various illness/diseases, yet, my husbands visit on 11.14.25 was the first time I have been compelled to write a review for Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. Every employee was exemplary. ER Dr. Patel, trauma nurse-Niomi, the EMT's, overnite nurse Raja, Gabby, Dr. Brian Neville and Dr. Karim Nahra. The communication around all the testing and results for my husband was totally explained and reassuring for him in those tumultuous few days. I know I have spelling errors for some names and regret this because these staff members need to be commended. It is of no surprise to find that the staff of Advocate Sherman Hospital is highly rated and award winning!!! Human treatment, expertise and kindness is valued at this hospital. Thank you and God bless you, Dave and Nancy Manning
