I have stage 3 endometriosis, I was admitted into the hospital I waited 20 hours in the emergency for a bed. I was suffering extreme pain and very bad endo flare up. This lady and her team deprived me of everything to get better, I actually left because I felt like they were killing me , they left me in so much pain. I had to call the director of the hospital multiple times in order to help me, even the slightest. The er doctor I had was amazing Dr Patel, he understands my condition and what I am going thru. I hate this hospital most do and that's why no one comes unless they don't have insurance. They treat you like an animal. Never again.

My review is for the Labor and Delivery department. I was skeptical about giving birth at McNeal but I love my OB so I decided to give it a try. I had a bad experience at Loyola when I gave birth to my son and figured that it couldn't be as bad. It wasn't, far from it. I had the absolute BEST experience. The care that I received from the labor and delivery team was outstanding. Nurses Tina and Jessica had the best bedside care and were very empathetic. They made me feel very safe in their care. They came to check on me often and made sure that I was okay. I cannot say enough good things about Tina and Jessica. They were there during the time when I was in the most physical pain and I will remember the way they took care of me forever. Priscilla from the nursery was great with my newborn. I love the way she handled her and answered all of our questions and concerns. Doctor Winters was very thorough and explained step by step what our options were at every stage of my delivery. This team hands down gave me the best care that I have ever received and I will always be grateful to the L&D team.

The past decade this hospital has gone down the drain. The equipment and furniture even the facilities are so outdated and need repairs constantly and lack renovations. The staff is 10% great and the other 90% ego air heads that never hear your concerns. The head nurse in the ER is garbage. I was disabled and she never helped me out of the bathroom and constantly ignored me. They never put me in a bed I was always in a wheel chair. This felt so horrible and constantly had to beg for a nurse to hear my pain after a bad accident. They had me in this waiting room in a wheel chair for hours. The nurses are always ignoring others as well. I would see some doctors just lounging while nurses race for the aid of others so unwelcoming. The head nurse constantly criticized me having an accident and that was so disappointing in their behavior. This place needs a heavy audit.

My grandpop (my heart and soul) was taken into the ICU. The nurses were so unbelievably supportive, informative and so kind (most important). Spanish is his primary language and his English is ok. Everyone made it super easy for him to understand what was going on and his options moving forward. Despite, seeing a family member very sick everyone made things comfortable for my family and I. He was very well taken care of while staying in the ICU, I appreciate every single of his nurses/techs and doctors! Hospice Unit- After many difficult decisions, we decided hospice was the best option for my grandpop to go peacefully. While in the hospice unit, all the girls were so so kind and accommodating. We had a lot of family visiting and leaving and all the staff always made sure everyone was taken care of! I wouldn't have wanted care for my grandpop anywhere else! I truly respect and appreciate everyone my family and I met while staying at MacNeal Hospital. Please keep doing an amazing job and wish you all nothing but a successful and safe career. Bless you all.

If I could give this hospital zero stars, I would. This isn't MY review. It's my mom's. Fun fact: I wasn't even born in this hospital because they refused to believe my mom was in labor. Twice. She was carrying her second child, me, and told them repeatedly what was happening, and they still sent her away. On the drive back, trying to return to the same hospital for a third time, I was born in the truck. I slipped out of my mom and hit the floor of the vehicle because the staff dismissed her pain and refused to take her seriously. It's terrifying to think about how badly this could've ended. The complete lack of care, empathy, and basic medical judgment is something my family has never forgotten. No one should be turned away while in active labor, especially not twice. Absolutely unacceptable.
