I visited an integrative medicine physician - Dr. Lori Walsh on Tuesday 11/25/25 upon the recommendation of a neighbor. It's not close for me to go there but after all is said and done it was well worth the drive. The actual physician came out to the lobby to get me! She also did all the intake. She gave me a focused uninterrupted hour plus of her time. We discussed my health concerns. I've had about 6 yrs of illness. ( I'm 66 yro) For the most part She confirmed that I am making right choices in my health journey and I'm grateful for that. GSH has this integrative section of their complex and I think its very good to recognise how important it is to take care of ourselves in many different modalities - food, exercise, mental and spiritual focus. They have several classes available and a farm to table program which I will look into deeper. This was an all around great experience. Not far at all from the intersection of Rte 22 and Kelsey Rd.

My Mom went for outpatient surgery to replace the battery for her neural stimulator. The doctors & nurses were wonderful and I was orally kept up to date on her progress.
My biggest complaint was there was ZERO cell phone signal inside the hospital and the public
Wi-Fi (ahcpub) does NOT work at all. (NO Internet!)
I was supposed to receive text messages about my Mom's progress, but I couldn't get anything whatsoever. I didn't receive those messages until my Mom was discharged & my car was one mile from the hospital.
The care is a lot better than most hospitals I've been to, but until the powers that be fix the Wi-Fi problem, be prepared to be stuck in airplane mode while in this hospital.

I previously held Advocate Medical Good Shepherd in extremely high regard. While other Advocate facilities--such as Sherman--often fell short in my experience, Good Shepherd consistently provided what I believed to be exceptional care. I trusted this hospital and the medical providers within it.
On March 2, 2025, that trust was seriously damaged.
At the direction of my urologist, I was explicitly instructed that if I observed blood in my urinary drainage bag, I was to go directly to the emergency room. At that time, I also had a CT scan of my pelvic region already scheduled for the following day, making this situation even more medically significant. Acting exactly as instructed, I went out of my way to be taken specifically to Good Shepherd, expecting the same high standard of care I had previously received.
Instead, I was treated by George Tsonis, MD. From the outset, he was dismissive, did not meaningfully listen to my concerns, and ultimately stated that because there was no visible blood in the bag at that exact moment, "there was nothing he could do." I was discharged despite clear prior medical instructions that my symptoms warranted emergency evaluation.
As I routinely do, I later reviewed my medical documentation from that visit. In those official records, Dr. Tsonis consistently misgendered me throughout his notes. I subsequently filed a formal complaint with the Advocate Medical Network regarding this conduct.
Weeks later, I observed that the medical notes had been quietly altered to correct the misgendering. However, I was never contacted, updated, or informed of any investigation, corrective action, or accountability measures. From my perspective, it appeared that the documentation was silently changed while the underlying discriminatory behavior went unaddressed.
Misgendering a patient--particularly by a physician--is not a harmless mistake. It is deeply unprofessional, clinically inappropriate, and psychologically harmful, especially when committed by a medical provider who is fully trained in patient dignity, mental health awareness, and ethical standards of care.
I previously posted a review detailing this experience shortly after it occurred. Upon recently returning to this page, I discovered that my original review is no longer visible. I am therefore reposting my experience verbatim in the interest of transparency and accountability.
If you are seeking medical care that is unbiased, respectful, and grounded in professional medical ethics, I can no longer recommend this facility based on my experience. Patients should never have to question whether they will be treated with dignity or evaluated through the lens of personal belief rather than medical necessity.

Not safe for OB Gyne patients. A doctor said they were more comfortable letting a patient bleed out and die rather than providing care for an ectopic pregnancy that she falsely stated has a 1% chance of viability. AND THEN wasn't even competent enough to give alternative resources to the patient. Don't risk your life.
