They were SO SO nice to me. So kind during my mini stay. They were patient, attentive, professional, thorough, AND went above and beyond to make me comfortable. I would really like to say thank you to the doctors, nurses, anesthesia and patient intake professionals. :) I had an amazing experience that gave me faith for any help I'd need to come.

Just a few days ago I had to have a procedure done. 9/24/25.
Check in went well, the room was super clean and nice, there was a bag on the bed for my clothes, the gown to change into, and some socks.
The nurses that came in to hook up the IV was very friendly, got the IV in on the first stick ( im usually a hard stick) Thank you Harlem for being so nice, friendly and awesome.
I did get very emotional when the Anesthesiologist came in to explain all the steps to me, and tears started to roll. I believe his name was Richard, he made me feel at ease, and assured me that I was in good hands, and he would take care of me. He even tried to lighten the mood by being funny , So Thank you so much Richard for being kind and understanding , and having compassion.
Waking up after the procedure was NOT a good experience for me at all. I was waking up to someone YELLING my name. Im still out of it. Trying to get my head together. Nurse Kathleen was rude, mean, no empathy, or compassion. She asked me if I wanted anything to drink. It took me a second to comprehend, she got impatient with me, and I told her she didn't have to yell at me, and she said "well you didn't respond" HELLO? I had just been woken up out of anesthesia, by someone YELLING my name, im still out of it, trying to get my head together, and she wanted an immediate answer. She then asked if I was going to text my ride to let them know that I would be ready in a few minutes , or if she wanted me to have them call him , I told her I would text him. She grabbed the bag took my clothes out of the bag and put them on the bed. I jumped out of the bed, because it seemed like she was in a rush to get me out of there, and I said to her. WOW you are a mean person! She than replied to me sarcastically with a " Thank you" almost like I was joking or something. I told her that i have worked in Customer Service for almost 30 years, and i have had some pretty rude people. I was pretty mad by then, on how she treated me. She said she would take me to the car as soon as I was ready. I told her , NO and that i was going to walk myself out. She told me I couldn't do that, and she would get someone else to take me out and left the room. I went out to the hallway and Harlem the really nice lady that had checked me in and put in the IV,took me out.
Kathleen made me feel like crap. She had no patience with me, no understanding that I was still out of it from anesthesia, she rushed me out of there, , and had no empathy. I will try to avoid having any further procedures done at IFCH even though 2 of my Dr's. are affiliated there.

I arrived at the emergency room around 9:30 pm. Was in a room within 10 minutes. The nursing staff was incredibly friendly. I am difficult to get an iv in. The first nurse tried once and missed. Instead of sticking me multiple times she immediately got someone more experienced. She got it first try. The doctor came in immediately, made sure to order the necessary measures to manage my severe pain. I had an mri within 30 minutes. The problem was found. I was given instructions, received more pain management again as my pain was increasing again. Referred to the necessary specialists, and discharged within 2 hours of arriving at the hospital. I was never talked down to. Never treated as if I were trying to get drugs for any purpose other than my severe pain. Needless to say I am impressed. Thank you Idaho Falls community hospital. Your emergency department should be used as a model of how it should be done.

Went into the ER 6/22/25 late in the afternoon.
ER experience- 10/10! My nurse was amazing, I was constantly checked on, and was made to feel like my situation mattered to them. They were timely with meds and were quick to reach out to the provider when they weren't working. Even when the ER got busy there was no change in my care. I saw a PA while in the ER. Same experience with the PA. He took my seriously, was quick to order labs, etc., made sure my medication orders were put in right away, and genuinely seemed to care that I got better. Ultimately I needed surgery.
I should mention that I did need a CT scan while in the ER and wasn't impressed with the staff in radiology. One woman provided care without ever introducing themselves, making eye contact, nothing. The other simply asked if I had a CT before and said nothing else outside of giving orders on how to lay down on the CT bed. Just a cold, uncomfortable interaction.
Experience with my surgeon- the general surgeon oncall was Dr. O'Byrne. He is very clinical and too the point, which doesn't bother me at all! He had great bedside manners. What stood out to me was he made me feel like I was part of the decision making process. He made sure to go over my options and what I was most comfortable with. He also expressed his overall concern with ensuring my pain was managed after the surgery before being released from the hospital. It was clear his focus was on my overall wellbeing. I felt safe under his care. I'm glad he was the doctor oncall!!
Experience pre and post surgery- my surgery was late in the night. I had the same nurse during both experiences. She rocked! Warm, kind, and calming. I was really nervous and she was quick to keep my mind busy and kept me distracted, which was much appreciated! After the surgery she was very attentive and quick to manage my pain. Helped make the whole crappy experience not so crappy.
Experience in the OR- my anesthesiologist was Richard. Big personality and fun to interact with. He was reassuring and kind. The OR nurses were all very kind and welcoming. Everyone introduced themselves and made a point to say hi, which helped calm my nerves. Incredibly positive experience!
Experience being admitted- holy moly my night nurse, Karlee, was nothing short of incredible!!!! I wasn't brought to my room until about 10 at night and she was right there with me the whole rest of the night. I was in a lot of pain and she was on top of pain meds, came to check on me in between doses, and was so authentic in her concern for me. Because of her my pain was brought down to a manageable level. I don't think I could have gotten through the night without her care and kindness. Eternally grateful for her.
However my day nurse/staff were meh. Not really responsive. After working so hard all night to get my pain under control, unfortunately I had to wait over 2 hours for medication I requested and from there the pain levels spiked. Call lights took awhile to get answered. No one checked in. Just not impressed.
Food was pretty dang good. They were quick to deliver my order. No complaints.
When housekeeping came in they were kind, quick and efficient. The gentleman took the time to tell me to feel better which was nice.
Overall- seriously wouldn't go anywhere else. There were some not so great things but overall it was a good experience. I felt safe and cared for. In general, the staff were spectacular. I loved my surgeon. I'm happy I went to IFCH!
