2008 while on vacation in Kauai, I had a heart attack and was airlifted to Straub Hospital for treatment, as soon as they decided I wasn't a candidate for a stent, Dr Gratton had his staff start moving his schedule around so he could perform quadruple bypass surgery on me. The Doctor is a no nonsense surgeon, it's his way or the highway, I'm alive and well in 2025 because of his diagnosis and thoracic skills, his team was amazing and professional, i now have a 16 year old grandson and twin 12 year old grandchildren I probably wouldn't have ever met, my wife and I recently celebrated our 55th anniversary and we owe every year single day since 2008 to this wonderful man

Dr. Grattan, Words can't adequately convey how truly grateful me and my family are to you. My husband, children, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews have so much gratitude for your angel hands that saved my life. I was nearly hopelessly ill due to misdiagnosis from a medical organization on Windward Oahu, who misdiagnosed me, causing life-threatening delays. Thank God that I went to Straub Emergency Department, who found the masses and called you in. It is due to God's grace that you were the Cardiothoracic Surgeon that day who urgently saved my life. My husband was so in fear of losing me and once he met you, he knew that you would save my life. He had so much confidence in you and we all said that you were like the Space Shuttle Captian.- such a great person and someone who inspires confidence...an American hero. We are forever thankful for you and thank God daily for your skill, your amazing bedside manner, your warmth, your talent, heroism, and your dedication to the medical profession.
