Patient
I was an emergency physician at kuakini hospital in Honolulu. I've been an Emergency Physician for 30 years. Dr. Fukuyama had clinical skills that are beyond belief. My director said if you ever have a patient going down the tubes and you're not sure what's going on call fukuyama. One day I had an elderly woman who was in quite bad shape and I wasn't quite sure of the diagnosis. This was in 1989 before we use CT scan to diagnose pulmonary embolism and before we had d-dimers. Osamu put his stethoscope on the woman's chest and said wide open tricuspid regurgitation. This Woman's had a pulmonary embolus. In 30 seconds he made a diagnosis that I did not believe any cardiologist could have done. This skill that it takes to discern tricuspid regurgitation is incredible. Now we have ultrasound in the ER so it's a little easier but I would bet my life on this man's skills. My name is Robert mandiberg MD and I admire very few people. I hope he's still with us and practicing.
