Austin Wayne D MD

Dr. Austin has been my doctor for nearly 25 years. He is a very good, kind, caring doctor; however, his office is very disorganized and rude. My last few appointments I ended up sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours because they could not find my chart. (Then an additional hour in the patient room waiting to see the dr.) It is a terrible thing to have to use 4 hours of paid time off just to see a local doctor. Moreover, when I call to make an appointment for myself or my husband or to change an appointment the ladies who answer are very curt. Even though I have been his patient for 25 years, if I go 3 years without an appointment then I am required to be seen as a new patient, with a new patient appointment (they allow an hour) and the new patient charges. Another con about seeing Dr. Austin is he stuck in the 1980's. He does not take credit cards so you can pay only with check or cash, which is a pain for those who want to use their HSA, FSA, or credit/debit cards.

I was a potential new customer. I arrived early for a physical so I could do paperwork and get blood drawn. I filled my paperwork out, which did not include a medical history, just billing information. At 5 minutes passed my scheduled visit, a Bayer sales rep walks in and sees me waiting, asked the receptionist if she could "Pop" back to talk to them because she had a kid who had somewhere to be at 5 and it was already 330. The receptionist said no problem and she went back. I sat there another 5 minutes and was the only one in the waiting area, I approached the receptionist and explained that I had an issue with her letting the salesperson back when I was already past my scheduled time. She said hold on let me get my office manager. I heard her explain through the thin walls that " the guy waiting is mad because she came back". The office manager's response was "OK, I'll be out in a minute" After hearing that response I left. Evidently, they do not value a potential customer's time and think they are the only game in town, and after reading other reviews, the staff is absolutely not in tune with what is going on. They lost this potential customer, but probably don't even care. I was able to make an appointment with Andrew Miller in Watkinsville with a very helpful young lady, so if anyone is looking for a pleasant first contact I suggest here. I will edit this once my visit with him is completed.

My family has never had a physician that takes the time with patients that we have found with Dr. Austin. He is thorough, follows up, refers out with anything that is concerning. We highly recommend for all ages.

I don't know who is responsible for scheduling patients but there should be some appt. slots left open for patients who are sick especially on Monday instead of filling every slot with checkups, physicals, etc. I have been sick all weekend and called today (Monday) at 8:00 am to ask to be seen ASAP because of being very sick and having problems breathing. I was told that the best they could do is 4:30. I have been a patient for 15 years and I AM SICK and have been all weekend. I don't feel like waiting until 4:30! Unfortunately for your patients, we don't KNOW when we are going to get sick. If we did we would schedule an appointment ahead of time!

BEWARE ! When you really need Medical Care, you cannot get it here. Was just in the ER 9/6/21, I now have a condition for the rest of my life. Because I have not seen Dr Austin since 11/2018 I'm considered a new patient, new patients are being booked at the end of this year. Actually, refused Medical care when I really need it. This amazed me.
