Let's start out with, this review shouldn't even have a star. I'm only putting a star because the triage nurse was amazing and listened to everything I had to say coming in. On the flip side, the doctor who came in the night I was in excruciating pain had the absolute worst bedside manner I've ever encountered. I came in after a long shift at work. I was throwing up for 3 weeks at this point. 4 weeks ago, from the night I came in, I went to the emergency care center. I tested negative for what he claims I have. So, yes, in three weeks, a blatter infection can happen, yes. On the other hand, I came in for a blood test for a pregnancy test. Because I have all the symptoms of pregnancy and sometimes over-the-counter tests can be weird. He didn't wanna hear me or listen to what my fiancee had to say. So instead of finding out if I'm pregnant. I was told to go home with antibiotics for a bladder infection. Honestly, the health care system isn't here for women. When, quite frankly, we are the most prone to needing to be seen or evaluated. To make the matter worse the charge nurse came in to tell me he didn't order that in my blood panel. Also, 4 other nurses, including mine, asked him to because I have all the symptoms of pregnancy.

Terrible first ER experience. I came in with severe chest pain and I was dismissed by every staff member there. All of them looked at me like I was crazy, and they sent me home with no answers, still in pain. But not before one of the nurses could shove religion in my face and told me that if i prayed to god he'd take all my worries/stresses away and I'd be healed.

The nurses were nice, yet due to Dr. Salter (and this hospital's policies?) would not write an order for an MRI as the Radiologist wrote in the radiology report that "I needed 2 areas" to be viewed soon from an MRI so as to see if it was cancerous, and she would not write the MRI order, even asking at least three different times., and had a radiologist ask her. Plus, they have an MRI set-up "right there in their hospital!" How poor is that? I tried to like Dr. Salter yet she was just quite stern and seemed in a rush. Maybe they work too long of shifts there?
So she gave me 2 referrals for other doctors, and those 2 referrals were impossible to get in touch with, even when I drove to the distant locations...so in essence, those 2 referrals were useless and frustrating with anxiety, when this hospital could have done the MRI right then, right away....yet due to this hospital, it created so much anxiety.
I needed the MRI to be done, yet with Dr. Salter, and this hospital, there was no way for me to get the MRI that their radiologist said I very much needed...and they have the MRI equipment right there, yet this hospital has a "policy" I guess. Yes...another "policy!!!"
Anywhooooo...if you need medical attention, you might want to go a couple blocks away to ADVENT HOSPITAL who has a 5-star rating. Why go to a 2-star, with MANY BAD REVIEWS (read them!), when you can go a couple blocks away to a "5-STAR" rated facility!!!
VERY POOR hospital policies at Halifax Hospital, and maybe "overstressed, over worked staff, including Dr. Salter."
Some of the nurses were pleasant though.
Why choose a 2-star rating hospital, when there is a 5-Star hospital a couple blocks away???
ADVENT HOSPITAL has a "5-STAR RATINGS!" I wish I had gone to ADVENT HOSPITAL, "not Halifax."
"ADVENT HOSPITAL has a 5-STAR RATING!"

(Look at the other reviews ... this is a 2-STAR hospital ... and that's for several reasons.)
I was told I need to immediately get an MRI (about 2 possible cancer concerns) and yet I was NOT given a prescription nor any way of going to get this important MRI since they would not finish the job by doing "the important MRI."
This is 100% not appropriate, to not finish the job where someone can have 2 different organs with CANCER!!!
There is also a lot of uptight vibes from many of the staff ...and wierd signs saying negative things about how they have the right to kick people out of the facility. Several really uptight administration people. Yet there are a few nice caring nurses who were pleasant.
Who ever runs this hospital NEEDS TO RETHINK HOW THEY ESTABLISH THEIR "POOR UNCARING POLICIES" and rethink about real ways of "truly caring for the patients 'full' care."
To sumerize ... this hospital seems uptight, with incomplete patient servicing policies.
Just look over the other reviews.
This is a "2-Star hospital."

Horrible horrible horrible and to think they are training Dr that are premed. To already start their career wrong foot. Bet the student PA could have made a better career decision. I don't know why I continue to expect help from Halifax. What would give me that idea! Yall have violated me so many times. To many to count. Then won't let me speak with an attending or a patients relations staff
Where is the humanity! When someone has a Rib out of place!! Forget the armed tape yall are suppose to help the public that pays so much for such basic human rights.
