About Dr. Dr. Steve Xydas, MD
Steve Xydas, M.D., is the chief of the Columbia University Division of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center and co-director of the Mount Sinai Heart Institute. Dr. Xydas is board certified in cardiac and general surgery and is an expert in minimally invasive, open, endovascular, and transcatheter approaches to a full spectrum of serious cardiac diseases, including valve disease, coronary disease, and aortic aneurysms. He has extensive experience in valve-sparing aortic root repairs and innovative treatments to thoracic aneurysms.

Dr. Xydas is the BEST heart surgeon. I recently underwent surgery for a heart valve repair. The surgery was successful and I can't say enough great things about him and his staff/team. They were very thorough with testing along the way until the point in which I needed surgery. They prepared me for the surgery by telling me what to expect and answering all of my questions. They also explained things in ways in which I was able to understand. This made me feel mentally prepared for the surgery.
