As a nurse, I am very observant and sometimes overly critical of the care provided by healthcare professionals. I can honestly say that I have been very impressed by the care here at Mayo in Jacksonville and by the care provided by Dr. Mallea.
Dr. Mallea has rounded several times on my mom while she's been in ICU for over 5 weeks, both before and after her double lung transplant. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything that's going on including changes in her condition and how they plan on addressing any issues. He has shown concern not only for her physical well being, but her mental/emotional well being as well. His compassion and care have more than exceeded our expectations and I am at ease when my mom is under his care as she continues her long road to recovery in the ICU.
